CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Wednesday, 07-05-06 and Thursday, 07-06-06. BLANTON MUSEUM OF ART, 100 East Martin Luther King blvd. Criminal Trespass / Evading Arrest or Detention (2 Counts): Six non-UT subjects were observed skateboarding and doing tricks on the southwest portion of the building. When the officer arrived, he ordered all of the subjects to stop. Four of the subject complied; however, two subjects informed the officer, "we have somewhere to be," and skated away. They were quickly caught since neither could skate faster than the police patrol vehicles. During the investigation, officers learned that both subjects had received prior criminal trespass warnings in 2001 and 2002. Both subjects were taken into custody for Evading Arrest or Detention and transported to Central Booking. All six subjects were issued criminal trespass warnings. Occurred on: 7-05-06, at 11:58 PM. PETER T. FLAWN ACADEMIC CENTER, #2 West Mall Theft: A UT student checked out a Dell laptop computer on 5-09-06 and failed to return the property on the same day. After eight attempts to contact the student to have the property returned went unanswered, criminal charges are pending. Loss value: $1,000.00. Reported on: 7-05-06. PETER T. FLAWN ACADEMIC CENTER, #2 West Mall Theft: A UT student checked out an Apple iBook laptop computer on 5-18-06 and failed to return the property on the same day. After making seven attempts to contact the student, the student returned one of the telephone calls and informed the UT staff member that he would return the computer later in the day. After two additional attempts to contact the student, the property had not been returned and criminal charges are pending. Loss value: $900.00. Reported on: 7-05-06. SAN ANTONIO PARKING GARAGE, 2420 San Antonio Street Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was overheard arguing with another unidentified subject who fled the area when a UT police officer arrived on the fifth level. During the investigation, the officer detected alcohol on the subject's breath. The subject received a written criminal trespass warning and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 7-05-06, at 6:00 PM. 200 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD. Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was observed asleep at the bus stop. During the investigation, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol on the subject's breath when he was trying to wake him up. When the non-UT subject was awake, he told officers that he had been dropped off by some friends, but he had no clue where he was or where he lived. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 7-06-06, at 4:38 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 5 alarm calls, 1 lighting survey, and 3 unsecured door reports between 07-05-06 and 07-06-06.
