CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Thursday, 07-20-06 and Friday, 07-21-06. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Criminal Trespass Warnings: A non-UT subject entered Jester City Limits and began shoving handfuls of ice down his pants and rubbing himself in a provocative manner. The subject then left the area and went to the closest men's restroom. Officers located the subject as he was about to exit the restroom. The subject informed officers that he had a medical condition and that putting ice down his pants eased the pain. During the investigation, the officer issued the subject a written criminal trespass warning and escorted him from campus. Occurred on: 7-20-06, at 9:14 AM. PARKING LOT 104, 1900 Block N IH-35 Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was discovered sleeping on top of a picnic table. After waking the subject up, the subject stated that he had been hiking from Missouri and was a little tired. During the investigation, the officer issued the subject a written criminal trespass warning and escorted him from campus. Occurred on: 7-20-06, at 11:30 PM. PHARMACY BUILDING, 2409 University Ave. Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT entered into a 4th floor lab and began touching lab materials and equipment. When approached by a staff member, the subject stated that he was registering for school. The staff member told the subject that he needed to leave the lab since there were acids and biological materials that he did not need to be touching. The staff member followed the subject out of the Pharmacy Building and into another building on campus. The police officer located the subject and during the investigation issued the subject a written criminal trespass warning and escorted him from campus. Occurred on 7-20-06, at 9:49 AM. 300 BLOCK MARTIN LUTHER KING BLVD. Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was observed staggering and having issues maintaining his balance. When the subject was stopped by the officer, the subject told the officer that he had been downtown, having a good time. During the investigation, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject's breath and was having a difficult time understanding the subject's slurred words. The officer determined that the subject been having a good time and was now a danger to himself. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 7-21-06, at 3:00 AM. 1900 BLOCK RED RIVER Criminal Mischief: An unknown subject slashed the front tire of a 1993 Ford Taurus with an unknown object, causing the tire to deflate. The owner of the vehicle stated this was the second time within 30 days that one of her vehicle's tires had been damaged. Loss value: $100.00. Occurred on: 7-20-06, between12:30 PM. and 5:20 PM. 1900 BLOCK RED RIVER Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was found asleep in the grass next to Lot 80. During the investigation, the officer discovered that the subject had received two prior criminal trespass warnings for different locations on campus. The subject was taken into custody for Criminal Trespass and transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 7-21-06, at 12:11 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 8 alarm calls, 1 collision report, 3 suspicious activity reports, 1 lighting survey, and 5 unsecured door reports between 07-20-06 and 7-21-06. UTPD generally schedules a Defensive Driving Class approximately once a month – based on need. The classes meet in the University Police Building, Room 1.318, located at 2201 Robert Dedman Dr (east of Memorial Stadium). The cost for the course is $25.00 (check or cash) payable on class date. If paying in cash, please bring the exact amount because change may not be available. You will also need to bring your driver's license.
