Crime Prevention Tip: Police officers are obtaining more vital information in these types of cases with more and more victims utilizing either *57 or the caller ID on their telephones. With the University of Texas telephone system the *57 feature is a free feature. Southwestern Bell offers the same service with a small charge. When a person receives a harassing, annoying telephone call, simply hang up on the caller. Once the call has been disconnected, pick up the receiver and dial *57. You will hear one of two messages, this call has been successfully trapped or the call could not be trapped. Please note the date and time of the trap to assist the police officer. The subject yelled at the officers," You got the wrong guy." The subject then entered into a nearby building.
