CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Tuesday, 09-19-06 and Wednesday, 09-20-06. BELLMONT HALL, 2109 San Jacinto Blvd Possession of Marijuana / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: A non-UT subject was discovered sleeping on the 9th level of the building. During the investigation, the officer obtained consent to search the subject's backpack. The subject informed the officer that he did have two knives inside his backpack, but did not have any drugs. The officer discovered a plastic baggie containing marijuana. The subject was taken into custody. The officer continued his search and discovered a vial of Lidocaine HCl injection solution and 8 syringes. The subject transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 9-18-06, at 8:40 AM. GREGORY GYM, 2101 Speedway Theft: A UT staff member reported the theft of an Apple iPod from a secured locker located inside the 2nd floor men's locker room. Loss value: $100.00. Occurred: between 9-15-06, and 9-18-06 at 4:46 PM. JESTER EAST DORMITORY, 203 East 21st Street Burglary of Habitation: A UT student discovered $60.00 in cash missing from her backpack, which had been left inside a secured dormitory room located on the 8th floor. The student stated that she had left her dormitory room and secured the door before going to lunch. She returned 15 minutes later and discovered her backpack open and the money missing. During the investigation, the officer did not observe any damage to either lock or the door. Loss value: $60.00. Occurred on: 9-19-06, between 11:00 AM and 11:15 AM. PARKING LOT 23, 1800 Red River Burglary of Motor Vehicle: The rear passenger window of Chevy truck was discovered broken out. The owner of the vehicle stated that $10.00 in cash and a CD case containing various CDs was stolen from inside the passenger compartment of his vehicle. Loss value: $62.00. Occurred: between 9-18-06, at 5:15 PM and 9-19-06, at 1:34 AM. PHARMACY BUILDING, 2409 University Ave. Graffiti: Words written in black indelible marker were discovered inside a 2nd floor men's rest room. Loss value: $50.00. Discovered on: 9-18-06, at 4:51 PM. STUDENT SERVICES BUILDING, 100 East Dean Keeton Criminal Trespass Warning: A UT student reported that a non-UT subject had been disrupting several past student meetings, and after disrupting the last meeting the subject had been banned. During the investigation, the subject arrived to attend the meeting and was issued a written criminal trespass warning and escorted from the areas. Occurred on: 9-19-06, at 6:45 PM. UNION BUILDING, #4 West Mall Theft: A UT staff member observed an unknown subject take a handful of sushi from a private vender located on the second floor. The subject left the area prior to the arrival of the officer. The subject was described as: white male wearing an orange shirt. Loss value: $4.00. Occurred on: 9-19-06, at 7:00 PM. 200 BLOCK WEST 22ND STREET Driving While License Invalid: A grey Saturn was observed traveling south bound in the 2400 Block Guadalupe and disregard an official traffic control device. During the investigation, the officer discovered that the driver was operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver's license. The driver was taken into custody and transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 9-19-06, at 11:30 PM. 200 BLOCK WEST DEAN KEETON Suspicious Activity: An unknown subject was observed running east along Dean Keeton carrying a black handgun in his right hand. The officer yelled at the subject to stop and the subject began running faster. The subject disappeared from sight at the intersection of University Ave and Dean Keeton. The subject was described as: white male, 20 years of age, 6'-0", 200 lbs, with short cropped blonde hair. The subject was last seen wearing a brown and white striped shirt and blue jeans. Occurred on: 9-18-06, at 6:10 PM. 300 BLOCK EAST 21ST STREET Public Intoxication: Two UT subjects were observed sitting at the bus stop when one subject leaned way over from his friend and began displaying the signs of an extremely intoxicated person evacuating their digestive track. The second subject soon joined his friend. During the investigation, the officer observed that both subjects had created a large "splash zone" since both subjects were wearing some of the evidence. The officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on both subjects. Both students were taken into custody for Public Intoxication and were transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 9-17-06, at 1:13 AM. 2700 BLOCK HEMPHILL Possession of a Controlled Substance / Unlawful Carrying a Weapon: A grey VW Jetta was observed traveling at a very high rate of speed. After committing additional traffic violations the vehicle was stopped. The officer detected a strong odor of alcohol on the driver's breath. During the investigation, the driver presented the officer a Texas driver's license that was later determined to have been issued to another person. During the investigation, the officer discovered that the subject represented in the Texas driver's license had 4 outstanding outside agency warrants. The subject was taken into custody and officers discovered Xanax in the subject's front pocket. During the search officers located a second State issued identification card with the subject's true name and date of birth. The subject was taken into custody for Possession of a Controlled Substance. The subject's vehicle was searched and officer's discovered a loaded handgun in the trunk of the vehicle. The subject was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 9-19-06, at 1:40 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 72 alarm calls, 7 suspicious activity reports, 5 medical emergency calls, 5 collision report, and 28 unsecured door reports between 09-18-06 and 09-20-06.
