When the police officer arrived, the non-UT subject admitted that he had been told to leave but since he was a season football ticket holder, he had divine rights. The officer issued the subject a written criminal trespass warning and escorted him out of the reserved area. Occurred on: 9-23-06, at 6:24 AM. DARRELL K. After several failed verbal attempts to wake the subject, the officer shook the subject until he awoke. The student knew where he was, how he had gotten there, and where he was intending to go. The student was upset that he had to talk to the police since he had "passed out." During the investigation, the officer detected a moderate odor of alcohol on the student's breath. The student was issued a field release citation for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor. The student refused to sign the citation until given his alternative choice. He decided it was better to sign the citation than go to jail. Occurred on: 9-24-06, at 3:28 AM. Crime Prevention Tip: A field release citation is just that-a field release, non-custodial arrest. The violator is being released on his promise that he will make contact with the judge within the next 30 days after being cited. When a person refuses to sign the citation, then the alternatives for the officer become limited. The person goes to jail until they meet with a judge, and in front of the judge, they sign the citation and are released. KINSOLVING DORMITORY, 2605 Whitis Ave. Criminal Mischief: As reported by a Campus Watch subscriber: My husband and I were visiting our daughter, a UT student. As we, our daughter and 2 of her friends exited Kinsolving dorm Sat. Sept. 23 just after sunset, we saw a squirrel jump up on a bike seat and attack it. The seat was a soft one, foam covered with cloth. The squirrel ripped open the cloth in several places and used its paws to pull out the stuffing. We tried to scare it off, even throwing water on it, but it kept coming back. We couldn’t think of anything else to do to help the poor person who will have a destroyed bike seat. If you want, I could send you a picture of this perpetrator in the act of vandalism. SAN JACINTO RESIDENCE HALL, 309 East 21st Street Places Weapons are Prohibited / Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT student was observed slumped over a bench. The subject stood up and began staggering and stumbling while navigating the contours of the sidewalk. During the course of the investigation, the officer requested permission to search the subject's backpack. During the course of the search a butterfly knife was discovered. The subject was taken into custody for Places Weapons are Prohibited and received a citation for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor. The subject was transported to Central Booking.
