CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Tuesday, 09-26-06 and Wednesday, 09-27-06. COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, 100 West 21st Street Theft: A purse containing several credit cards and various forms of personal ID was stolen from a 5th floor computer lab after the former owner stepped into the hallway to make a personal telephone call. The property was lest unattended for about an hour. Loss value: $50.00. Occurred on: 9-26-06, between 12:01 AM and 1:00 AM. KINSOLVING DORMITORY, 2605 Whitis Ave. Criminal Mischief Suspect: Due to the increased interest by many readers in solving this crime, a photograph of the suspect was released and is attached to this email. PARKING LOT 104, 1900 Block North IH-35. Burglary of Motor Vehicle: A UT police officer observed a white Pontiac parked near a white Honda. The officer heard the Honda's alarm system going off, then observed a subject standing next to the Pontiac. When the officer approached the vehicles, the subject jumped into the Pontiac and sped off. After a short chase the Pontiac was stopped in the 1100 Block of Chicon. Both the driver and passenger tried to exit the vehicle. Both subjects were detained. Officers observed an amplifier lying on the backseat of the Pontiac in plain view. Additional officers were sent to Parking Lot 104 to investigate the Honda. Officers discovered the driver's side window broken out and the car's stereo system missing. The owner of the Honda identified the missing stereo components as his, along with a Cobra radar detector. The two subjects operating the Pontiac were taken into custody for Burglary of Motor Vehicle and transported to Central Booking. During an additional search at Central Booking, glass shards were located inside the shoes of one of the suspects. Occurred on: 9-26-06, at 11:58 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 56 alarm calls, 4 suspicious activity reports, 2 reported collisions, 3 medical emergency calls, and 7 unsecured door reports between 09-26-06 and 09-27-06.
