CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Wednesday, 11-01-06 and Thursday, 11-02-06. * * * * ADMINISTRATIVE MESSAGE * * * * * CONGRATULATION!!! I am again happy to announce that the University of Texas Police Department will be making arrangements to deliver another FREE PIZZA to a University of Texas student who witnessed a known bicycle thief in action. Her telephone call led to his apprehension and arrest on several criminal charges. BRAZOS PARKING GARAGE, 200 East Martin Luther King Blvd. Criminal Mischief: The owner of a Jeep Wrangler discovered an L-shaped cut in her vehicle's soft top. Upon further inspection, the owner observed that the glove compartment lock had been broken. During the investigation, the owner stated no items were taken from inside her vehicle. Loss value: $750.00. Discovered on: 11-01-06, at 9:00 PM. Crime Prevention Tip: As we have been reading within the last couple of weeks, there has been an increase in criminal activity inside the Brazos Parking Garage. There are several things we as a community can do to reduce our risk of being victims. Take a minute and look around the interior of your vehicle. Is there visible property? If there is, take the time to conceal those items or lock them up inside your trunk or console. Simple things like pocket change will attract a thief. Take time to remove any temptations from within the passenger compartment. As a community, look out for one another. If you see or suspect that someone might be doing something illegal, contact the police department. There are emergency telephones on each level of the garage near the elevators. These telephones will provide direct contact to the police dispatcher. GOLDSMITH HALL, #5 West Mall Theft: A black and silver Trek mountain bicycle was stolen from the bike racks located on the north side of the building after being secured with a self-locking cable lock. Loss value: $250.00. Occurred: between 10-31-06, at 6:00 PM and 11-01-06, at 1:30 AM. The officer learned that one student was supporting his intoxicated friend and that the intoxicated friend was causing both to stagger. The officer determined that the intoxicated student was under the legal age of 21. When asked what he had been drinking the student replied, "Hardly anything."
