CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Monday, 11-13-06 and Tuesday, 11-14-06. DEVELOPMENT OFFICE, 2901 N. IH-35 Theft: A silver Ford Focus was reported stolen after being parking in the parking lot next to the Development Office. Loss value: $15,000.00. Occurred on: 11-09-06, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. ERNEST COCKRELL HALL, 301 East Dean Keeton Theft: A Dell computer tower was reported stolen from an 8th floor computer lab. Loss value: $300.00. Occurred between: 11-03-06 and 11-05-06. PARKING LOT 104, 1900 N IH-35 Burglary of Motor Vehicle: The driver's side window of a red Ford truck was discovered broken out and at that time, the officer was unable to determine if any property was missing from inside the vehicle. Discovered on: 11-09-06, at 5:00 AM. PARKING LOT 104, 1900 N IH-35 Assist Outside Agency: UT police officer discovered two non-UT subjects sitting inside a vehicle. Due to the increase in burglary of motor vehicles, the officers stopped both subjects. During the investigation, the officers discovered that one of the subjects had an outstanding outside agency arrest warrant for theft. The subject was taken into custody for the warrant and transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 11-13-06, at 11:34 PM. PETER T. FLAWN ACADEMIC CENTER, #2 West Mall Theft: Two Dell laptop computers were stolen from a secured second floor office. During the investigation, the officer did not observe any signs of forced entry. Loss value: $2,000.00. Occurred between: 11-11-06, at 5:30 PM and 11-13-06, at 7:20 AM. SIMKINS DORMITORY, 2501 San Jacinto Blvd. Burglary of Coin-Operated Machine: The plexiglas front of a coin-operated vending machine was discovered pushed in and an unknown amount of product had been removed from the machine. Loss value: Unknown at this time. Discovered: 11-13-06, at 11:35 PM. TOWNES HALL, 727 East Dean Keeton Suspicious Person: An unknown subject entered into a 3rd floor office inquiring about job openings. When told that he would need to use a specific career service, the unknown subject became upset and slammed his fists against the countertop. The reporting staff member stated that several days later the same subject entered into his office and picked up pamphlets and candy then left the area. The subject is described as: white male with short grey hair. The subject was last seen wearing black frame glasses that are broken. Occurred: 11-10-06, at 3:00 PM and again on 11-13-06, at 5:00 PM. WALTER WEBB HALL, 2500 Guadalupe Graffiti: A silver paint pen was used to write words on the east side of the building. Repair loss: $100.00. Discovered on: 11-14-06, at 4:44 AM. 200 BLOCK WEST 24TH STREET Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was observed having extreme challenges while attempting to ride a bicycle. The subject was observed weaving into oncoming traffic and having balance issues. The subject was stopped and the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject's breath. During the investigation, the officer observed that the subject's eyes were bloodshot and dilated. The officer had a hard time understanding the subject when he spoke. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and transported to Central Booking. The subject's bicycle was impounded. Occurred on: 11-13-06, at 11:15 PM. 2200 BLOCK INNER CAMPUS DRIVE Graffiti: Maroon aerosol paint was used to write two words above a parking sign. Repair loss: $100.00. Discovered: 11-14-06, at 3:42 AM. 2200 BLOCK SPEEDWAY Theft: A grey Trek mountain bicycle was stolen from the bike racks after securing the bicycle with a U-shaped lock. Loss value: $250.00. Occurred on: 11-13-06, between 12:15 PM and 1:30 PM. 2400 BLOCK NUECES STREET Public Intoxication / Display A Fictitious Driver's License: A UT student was observed staggering as she attempted to cross the street. When stopped by the police officer, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject's breath. The officer asked the subject for her driver's license and the subject happily handed over a driver's license that indicated that she was over the legal age of 21. The driver's license was deceptively similar to a State of Texas issued driver license. The officer soon discovered that the license was in fact a counterfeit driver license. During the investigation, the officer discovered the subject's true date of birth and determined that the student was under the legal age of 21 and was intoxicated. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was placed in the back of a marked police vehicle. The student began giving the officer directions to her apartment complex. The subject was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 11-10-06, at 1:05 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 39 alarm calls, 2 medical calls, 3 suspicious activity reports, 1 collision report, and 10 unsecured door reports between 11-13-06 and 11-14-06.
