CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Wednesday, 11-22-06 and Monday, 11-27-06. BATTS HALL, #3 South Mall Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject activated the "Police Help" callbox, mumbled into the callbox, then walked away towards Jester Dormitory. During the investigation, the non-UT subject was located sitting at a table talking to himself. The subject admitted that he had activated the callbox to inform APD that he had been assaulted by "Jezebel" the daughter of Cain. The officer issued the subject a written criminal trespass warning and escorted him from the area. Occurred on: 11-27-06, at 5:46 AM. BRAZOS PARKING GARAGE, 200 East Martin Luther King Blvd. Theft: Four unidentified subjects were observed picking up orange colored traffic cones and placing them into the bed of a tan Ford truck. The truck was last seen traveling south towards MLK. During the investigation, it was determined 10 traffic cones had been taken. Loss value: $100.00. Occurred on: 11-23-06, at 12:23 AM. CALHOUN HALL, #4 South Mall Suspicious Activity: Coca-Cola syrup was observed oozing out from under an unplugged coke machine. An unknown caped crusader wrote, "Holy nauseating discharges, Batman! Have unplugged machine." The unknown subject identified himself as, The Boy Wonder. Occurred on: 11-26-06, at 4:02 PM. COLORADO APARTMENTS, 2501 Lake Austin Blvd. Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject entered into an unsecured apartment and asked the resident for something to eat. The subject was wrapped up in a blanket when she entered the apartment. The resident ushered her children into a back bedroom and contacted the police department. During the investigation, the officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject's breath and observed that she had a difficult time maintaining her balance. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 11-26-06, at 7:15 PM. DARRELL K. ROYAL- TEXAS MEMORIAL STADIUM, 405 East 23rd Street Possession of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT student was observed carrying a small flask in his right front pants pocket. The silver cap and the top of the flask were sticking out. During the investigation, the officer observed that the flask contained an alcoholic beverage and that the student was under the legal age of 21. The student was issued a field release citation for Possession of Alcohol by a Minor. The student was ejected from the stadium after receiving a written referral to the Dean of Student's Office. Occurred on: 11-24-06, at 1:04 PM. DARRELL K. ROYAL- TEXAS MEMORIAL STADIUM, 405 East 23rd Street Public Intoxication: Two students were taken into custody by an outside agency for Public Intoxication. Both subjects were transported to Central Booking. During the transport, both subject combined their effort to create an ankle deep splash zone inside the police vehicle. Occurred on: 11-24-06, at 12:15 PM. GREGORY GYM, 2101 Speedway Theft: A UT student reported the theft of two bathing suits from her locker. During the investigation, the officer learned that the student shared the locker with another subject, who had not been contacted. Loss value: $30.00. Occurred: between 11-21-06, at 6:00 PM and 11-22-06, at 5:00 PM. GREGORY GYM, 2101 Speedway Criminal Trespass: Three non-UT subjects were observed "trick" riding on the plaza. As the uniformed police officer approached the subjects, two rode off and were stopped a few blocks away. During the investigation, all three subjects were issued written criminal trespass warnings and escorted from campus. Occurred on: 11-22-06, at 5:20 PM. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Graffiti: A UT student discovered words scratched into his 9th floor dormitory door. The words were offensive in nature. Occurred: between 11-22-06, at 1:00 PM and 11-25-06, at 11:00 PM. MUSIC BUILDING EAST, 2405 Trinity Theft: A UT student reported the theft of a Sony disc player, Panasonic CD-Player, several CDs, and a black key fob from an unsecured 6th floor practice studio. During the investigation, the student stated that she had left to get some coffee and was gone 45 minutes. Loss value: $187.00. Occurred on: 11-21-06, between 4:30 PM and 5:15 PM. O'HENERY HALL, 601 Colorado Street Assist Outside Agency / Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was observed sleeping underneath a large blanket. During the investigation, the officer soon discovered that the subject had been issued 6 prior criminal trespass warnings for various buildings on the main campus. The officer conducted a warrant check and discovered that the subject had an outstanding outside agency warrant. The subject was taken into custody and transported to Central Booking. In addition to other law enforcement actions taken, the subject was issued another criminal trespass warning. Occurred on: 11-23-06, at 11:15 PM. PHARMACY BUILDING, 2409 University Ave. Theft: A silver Trek, 4500, mountain bicycle was stolen from the bike racks located on the southeast portion of the building after being secured with a cable and combination pad-lock. Loss value: $500.00. Occurred on 11-24-06 between 10:20 AM and 10:30 AM. SAN JACINTO DORMITORY, 309 East 21st Street Public Intoxication / False Report: A non-UT subject reported that his sister was in her dormitory room with 10 other people and that they were all using illegal drugs. During the investigation, the officer located the reporting person and discovered that he was intoxicated. The subject stated that he had been drinking, a lot. During the investigation, the officer observed that the subject was staggering, and had a very strong odor of alcohol on his breath. The subject informed the officer that he should be fined for lying. When asked to explain, the subject stated that his sister was in Michigan and not inside her dormitory room doing drugs. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and False Report. The student was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 11-24-06, at 12:27 PM. WALTER WEBB HALL, 2500 Guadalupe Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was observed loitering along the east side of the building. The officer recognized the subject from a prior incident when he found the subject sleeping in the same area. During the investigation, the subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning and escorted from the area. Occurred on: 11-22-06, at 6:20 PM. WALTER WEBB HALL, 2500 Guadalupe Failure To Identify / Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was observed supporting himself against a wall, while exhibiting an extreme physical reaction to the over consumption of alcohol. As the subject continued with his endeavor, the officer observed an open 12-oz. can of beer next to the subject's foot. During the investigation, the officer recognized the subject and asked him for his name and date of birth. The subject gave the officer an incorrect date of birth. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and Failure to Identify. The subject was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 11-23-06, at 12:40 AM. 200 BLOCK WEST 6th STREET Evading Arrest or Detention / Failure to Identify: Two non-UT subjects were observed standing next to a wall creating a puddle. The officer ordered both subjects to stop what they were doing. One subject stopped in mid stream and walked away. The subject was stopped and the officer requested from him his name and date of birth. The officer could not locate a driver's license with the name and date of birth given. During the investigation, when the officer realized that the subject was not forthcoming with his correct information, she informed the subject that he was under arrest. The subject informed the officer," I don't need to deal with this." And fled the area on foot. The subject evaded capture. The subject was described as: middle-eastern male, facial hair, 5'-06" and 180 pounds. The subject was last seen wearing a light colored button down shirt and dark pants. Occurred on: 11-25-06, at 2:45 AM. 300 BLOCK MARTIN LUTHER KING BLVD. Driving While Intoxicated/ Possession of Marijuana / Possession of a Controlled Substance: A UT police officer observed a subject attempting to push a grey Mazda off of a curb after getting hi-centered on a curb stop. During the investigation, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject's breath. The subject informed the officer that he had wanted to get something to eat and noticed that the local area business was closed. The subject stated that he drove off the curb, causing his vehicle to get stuck. As the investigation continued, the officer administered the Standardized Field Sobriety tests and observed several clues that the driver was intoxicated. The subject was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated and was transported to Central Booking. During a search, officers located a glass jar inside the vehicle that contained marijuana. In addition to the marijuana, the officers located an orange-colored pill that was later identified as Dextroaphetemine. Occurred on: 11-23-06, at 2:40 AM. 2400 BLOCK GUADALUPE Possession of a Controlled Substance / Driving While Intoxicated: A black Nissan was observed committing several traffic offenses. When the vehicle was stopped, the officer observed that the driver's pants were unzipped and that the driver's eyes were bloodshot and glassy. As the driver got out of the vehicle a bottle of Brandy fell out onto the ground. The driver was quick to inform the officer that he had not been drinking. During the investigation, the driver informed the officer that he and his passengers were coming from a local area business identified as Charlies. As the investigation continued, the officer administered the Standardized Field Sobriety tests and observed several clues that indicated the driver was intoxicated. The subject was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated. During a search of the subject, the officer discovered a small plastic baggie that contained a white powder. The driver informed the officer at the powder was crushed aspirin. The "crushed aspirin" tested positive for cocaine. Occurred on: 11-24-06, at 3:30 AM. 2500 BLOCK RED RIVER Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor (3 Counts): A UT police officer over heard a female yelling "Help Me" as a vehicle drove past the officer's vehicle. During the investigation, the female passenger informed the officer that they were looking for a friend and had been yelling her name. The officer detected the odor of alcohol on the breath of all three subjects and discovered that all three were under the legal age of 21. All three were issued field release citations for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor. Occurred on: 11-26-06, at 1:25 AM. 2600 BLOCK GUADALUPE Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol by a Minor / Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor (2 Counts): A passenger was observed throwing a Styrofoam cup out of a black Isuzu Rodeo. The vehicle was stopped for littering. During the investigation, the officer observed that the driver's eyes were bloodshot and watery. The officer also detected a moderate odor of alcohol on the driver's breath. During the investigation, the officer administered the Standardized Field Sobriety tests but did not observe any clues that would indicate the driver was intoxicated. The officer did determine that the driver was under the legal age of 21 and had been consuming alcohol. As the investigation continued, the officer identified the two passengers inside the vehicle and soon discovered that both passengers were under the legal age of 21 and had been consuming alcohol as well. A second officer, on scene discovered a 1.75 liter bottle of Jack Daniels inside the vehicle. The passengers were both issued a field release citation for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor and the driver was cited for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol by a Minor with an open container enhancement. Occurred on: 11-24-06, at 2:40 AM. Crime Prevention Tip: The count down beings, there 28 shopping days left till Christmas. For this holiday season the wish lists are longer and the days are growing shorter. Take a few extra minutes to prevent those window shoppers from breaking into your vehicle by concealing all of your personal property. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 86 alarm calls, 6 medical call, 10 suspicious activity reports, and 12 unsecured door reports between 11-22-06 and 11-27-06.
