CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Wednesday, 01-31-07 and Thursday, 02-01-07. GEBAUER BUILDING, #4 East Mall Theft: A UT staff member discovered that a grey Apple Powerbook laptop computer was missing from her work station located on the 3rd floor. Loss value: $1,000.00. Discovered on: 01-31-07, at 8:42 AM. JESTER EAST DORMITORY, 203 East 21st Street Theft: A brown leather Coach purse containing a leather wallet, $60.00 in cash, several credit cards, and personal identification was stolen after being left unattended in the lobby next to a couch. The former owner stated that she had observed four unidentified females sitting near the area where she had left her property. Prior to contacting the police department, the student again saw the same four females and asked them if they had seen her purse. All denied having seen the purse; however, one female was holding her arm rather stiffly as if trying to conceal something under her jacket. Loss value: $145.00. Occurred on: 01-31-07, between 2:00 PM and 2:15 PM. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21 Street Harassment: A UT student received a telephone call that was harassing and threatening in nature. Occurred on: 01-31-07, at 6:27 PM. REC SPORTS CENTER, 2001 San Jacinto Theft: A UT student reported the theft of sweater and UT ID after both items were left unattended on the second floor. The former owner discovered the theft when he wanted to use his UTID to purchase some snack food. Loss value: $25.00. Occurred on: 01-30-07, between 8:30 PM and 9:15 PM. SAN JACINTO RESIDENCE HALL, 309 East 21st Street Harassment: A UT student reported receiving several harassing telephone calls inside her dormitory room. The caller left several messages that indicated his lack of ability of progressing beyond two and three syllable words. The student found the messages to be harassing and offensive in nature. The caller was described as an older white male. Due to the slurring of several two and three syllable words, the caller sounded intoxicated. Occurred on: 01-31-07, at 12:23 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 58 alarm calls, 3 suspicious activity calls, and 8 unsecured door reports between 01-31-07 and 02-01-07.
