CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Wednesday, 02-07-07 and Thursday, 02-08-07. * * * * BOLO BE ON THE LOOKOUT CANCEL * * * * * On 2-08-07, at 12:03 AM Mathis was arrested on information from the Campus Watch. During the investigation, the officers discovered that Mathis was in possession of another bicycle. Mathis was taken into custody for the outstanding warrant and transported to Central Booking. GATEWAY APARTMENTS, 1650 West 6th Street Burglary of Motor Vehicle: The passenger side window of a white Toyota truck was discovered broken out. During the investigation, the officers were unable to contact the owner of the vehicle and verify if any property was missing from the vehicle. Discovered on: 2-07-07, at 5:40 PM. GREGORY GYM, 2101 SPEEDWAY Theft: Two UT students reported the theft of two cellular telephones, a black backpack with a Spiderman logo, and two wallets. The wallets contained cash, credit cards and various personal identification cards. All of the stolen property was left unattended near a basketball court located on the 3rd floor. During the investigation, one of the victims remembered seeing an unknown subject hanging around in the area after playing a game. The unknown subject was described as: Black male, 6'-2", and heavyset. The subject was last seen wearing black shorts and a white T-shirt. The victim stated that the subject was upset because he had lost the previous basketball game. Loss value: $180.00. Occurred on: 2-07-07, between 8:00 PM and 9:30 PM. Crime Prevention Tip: Everyone is watching for the dunks, slams, and the ever popular alley-oop while playing basketball. Thieves are also watching…you. They are watching for unattended watches, backpacks, and the ever popular wallet. Take the time to secure your property. All Rec Sports facilities have day-use lockers that can be rented. PATTERSON LABS, 2415 Speedway Theft: A green Specialized Stump Jumper mountain bicycle was stolen from the bike racks located on the west side of the building after being secured with a self-locking cable. Loss value: $ 300.00. Occurred: between 2-02-07, at 5:00 PM and 2-05-07, at 11:00 AM. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Suspicious Person: A UT staff member observed an unknown subject in a wheelchair following her around. As the staff member went about her duties the subject would follow. The subject left the area prior to the staff member contacting the police department. The unknown subject was described as: Black male, 50-60 years of age, with braided hair. The subject was last seen wearing a blue shirt. The subject's wheelchair had black wheels with a Longhorn logo and orange letters spelling "Longhorns." Occurred on: 2-07-07, at 5:30 PM. 2200 BLOCK SPEEDWAY Theft: A green Huffy mountain bicycle was stolen from a pole located inside the bicycle dismount zone along the Speedway Mall after being secured with a self-locking cable lock. Loss value: $50.00. Occurred: between 2-02-07, at 1:00 PM and 2-04-07, at 6:00 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 31 alarm calls, 3 suspicious activity calls, 2 suspicious persons calls, and 5 unsecured buildings between 02-07-07 and 02-08-07.
