CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Monday, 03-12-07 and Tuesday, 3-13-07. 100 BLOCK WEST 15th STREET Driving While Intoxicated: A black Hyundai ran a stop light as a marked police vehicle was entering the same intersection. The vehicle finally stopped after several blocks. The officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle and on the driver's breath. The driver submitted to the Standardized Field Sobriety tests and displayed several clues that indicated that he was intoxicated. The driver was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 3-13-07, at 2:00 AM. 2400 BLOCK SAN JACINTO Public Intoxication: A UT staff member reported that a non-UT subject was stopping various people and asking them for money. During the investigation, the officer located the subject on the west side of the Texas Memorial Museum. The subject denied that he had been stopping people and asking them for money. The officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject's breath and observed that the subject's eyes were glassy. The subject's speech was slurred and very mumbled. The subject became very descriptive when referring to the officers. The subject stated that he would inflect bodily harm to either officer. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and transported to Central Booking. In addition to other law enforcement actions, the subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning. Occurred on: 3-12-07, at 2:12 PM. 2800 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD Public Intoxication: A UT police officer observed two subjects sitting under a tree. The officer observed that one subject was lying down and not responding to either vocal commands or an external sternum rub. The officer discovered that the subject had a clear liquid in his mouth that was impeding his breathing. The airway was cleared and Austin EMS was contacted. The subject was treated at the scene and transported to a local area hospital for further treatment. After the subject was transported the officer discovered an empty can of Fix-A-Flat next to the tree that both subjects were at. Occurred on: 3-12-07, at 11:25 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 21 alarm calls, 2 suspicious person calls, 2 suspicious activity calls, and 5 unsecured buildings between 03-12-07 and 03-13-07.
