CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Thursday, 04-05-07 and Friday, 04-06-07. WILL C. HOGG BUILDING, #2 East Mall Theft: A grey and green colored Puch bicycle was stolen from the east side of the building after being secured to a pole with a U-shaped lock. Loss value: $100.00. Occurred on: 4-05-07, between 12:30 PM and 3:30 PM. 600 BLOCK COLORADO STREET Failure to Identify / Improper Disposal of Human Waste / Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was discovered performing a physical bodily function near the Ashbell parking garage. During the investigation, the subject provided the officer with two different fictitious names and an incorrect date of birth. The subject was taken into custody for Failure to Identify and was transported to Central Booking. At Central Booking, the officer took the subject's fingerprints, and was able to positively identify her. In addition to other law enforcement actions taken the subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning. Occurred on: 4-05-07, at 6:40 PM. Crime Prevention Tip: This is the second day in a row that a subject was arrested for Failure to Identify. Both subjects were legally detained by the officers to investigate suspected criminal activity. Both subjects are required at that point to provide the following information: name, date of birth, and their correct address. Any variances in the required information is a violation. 1900 BLOCK GUADALUPE Public Intoxication: A UT student was discovered sitting on a curb, leaning forward while displaying an extreme physical reaction to the overconsumption of alcohol. The officer also observed four additional students trying to get the first student to stand. During the investigation, the officer detected an overpowering odor of alcohol and vomit on the student's breath. The student informed the officer that she was fine, but that she had "way too much alcohol." The officer contacted Austin EMS and EMS treated the subject for alcohol poisoning at the scene. The student refused additional medical treatment at a local area hospital. As the investigation, continued, the officer learned that the intoxicated student was being tended to by a sober friend. The officer elected not to file charges, but referred the student to the Dean of Students Office. Occurred on: 4-06-07, at 2:37 AM. 2500 BLOCK GUADALUPE Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol by a Minor: A grey Scion was observed traveling the wrong way on a posted one-way street. The vehicle was stopped and the officer detected a moderate odor of alcohol on the driver's breath. The officer asked the driver where she was coming from. The driver replied "Austin." The driver then interjected that she had hit someone. A second vehicle stopped and the driver informed the officer that the driver of the Scion had just hit him on Guadalupe. As the investigation continued, the officer discovered that the driver of the Scion was under the legal age of 21 and had consumed an alcoholic beverage at a private party. The officer administered the Standardized Field Sobriety tests and the driver did not display enough clues to indicate that she was intoxicated. The driver was issued a field release citation for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol by a Minor. Occurred on: 4-06-07, at 3:28 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 24 alarm calls, 2 suspicious person calls, 3 suspicious activity calls, 2 medical emergency calls, one fire call, and 6 unsecured buildings between 04-05-07 and 04-06-07.
