CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Monday, 04-23-07 and Tuesday, 04-24-07. ALEMTRIS DUREN HALL, 2624 Whitis Ave Credit Card Abuse: A UT student discovered his UTID was missing. Upon the discovery of the missing UTID, the student accessed his "Bevo Bucks" account and discovered that there had been several unauthorized charges to his account. During the investigation, the officer and student discovered that one of the unauthorized charges had been made at the laundry room. Officers discovered a load of clothes in the washer, but no one in the area. As the officers were concluding their investigation another student walked in and admitted to the victim that she had used his ID to wash her clothes. She then walked over and hugged the victim and apologized for her actions. This case is still under investigation, no charges have been filed at this time. Loss value: $28.01. Discovered on: 4-23-07, at 1:23 PM. UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS ADMINISTRATIVE BUILDING, 1616 Guadalupe Theft: A UT staff member discovered 600 pounds of copper cabling wire had been stolen from two bins located on the second floor. WEST MALL, 2300 Block Guadalupe Suspicious Person: UT police officers responded to the West Mall on a report of a male subject running and yelling at pedestrians along the West Mall. During the investigation, the officers were informed that there was a subject wearing a black mask and dressed as a ninja. The officers further learned that the ninja was chasing a pirate. As the investigation continued, the officers discovered that both subjects had "jumped ship" and had left the area. Reported on: 4-23-07, at 11:31 AM. 100 BLOCK WEST 21st STREET Suspicious Activity: A UT staff member observed an unknown subject looking at a red and black Schwinn mountain bicycle that was secured with a U-shaped lock. The staff member asked the unknown if he was looking for his bicycle. The subject told the staff member that he was just looking, but that he could steal that bicycle in less than 8 seconds. The unknown subject then left the area. During the investigation, the officer discovered that the Schwinn bicycle was registered to a UT student. The student was contacted and informed that someone was interested in her property and to consider using a two-lock locking system. The unknown subject was described as: White male, 6'-0", with a medium build. The subject was last seen wearing tan shorts, tan shirt, and black flip flops. Occurred on: 4-23-07, at 3:29 PM. Crime Prevention Tip: To know that a bike can be taken in less than 8 seconds tells me that this subject has been out here before. Let's work together and show him just what Higher Education can do for him. Let us show him that someone is Hungry for Justice.
