BRAZOS PARKING GARAGE, 200 East Martin Luther King Blvd. Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was discovered sleeping inside an unsecured vehicle located on the 7th level of the parking garage. During the investigation, the officer determined that the vehicle belonged to the subject, but the subject was using the garage as a campsite. The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning and escorted from the area. Occurred on: 4-30-07, at 5:00 AM. CLARK FIELD, 1900 Block San Jacinto Blvd: Theft: A red backpack containing a brown leather wallet and a silver Samsung cellular telephone was stolen after the former owner left his property unattended. During the investigation, the officer learned that the backpack had been left near the running track while the former owner ran laps. Occurred on: 4-26-07, at 10:39 PM. Crime Prevention Tip: Workouts are a great way to stay in shape, we all realize this fact. Workout areas provide a great venue for thieves to apply their trade. Many victims forget this fact until it is too late. When working out, take only those items that are needed. Backpacks, wallets, watches and other personal items need to be left in your dorm or apartment. If you need them, then secure these things inside a secured locker. GREGORY GYM, 2101 Speedway Theft: A black leather wallet containing a UT ID, credit card and $5.00 in US currency was stolen from a 3rd floor basketball court. The former owner left his property unsecured on a bleacher as he played basketball. Loss value: $25.00. Occurred on: 4-26-07, between 9:15 PM and 9:55 PM. JESSE H. JONES COMMUNICATION CENTER, 2405 Whitis Ave. Suspicious Activity: A UT staff member reported receiving a suspicious telephone call from an unknown subject. The caller left a message stating he was investigating a possible fraud case which involved her social security number. The staff member called the subject and learned that he worked for a collection agency. The staff member reported that the caller then began making threats that he would call her boss and other officials at UT. The staff member hung up and contacted the police. Occurred on: 4-26-07, at 11:00 AM. PARKING LOT 108, 1500 Block Red River Public Intoxication: A UT police officer observed a Ford SUV parked in the lot with the head lamps turned on. The officer discovered a non-UT subject sitting in the driver's seat holding a set of keys. The subject appeared to be sleeping. The subject awoke and opened the driver's door at the officer's request. As soon as the door opened the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol inside the vehicle's passenger compartment and on the subject's breath. During the investigation, the officer learned that the subject believed that she was in far North Austin and still at Graham's Central Station. The transporting elixir interfered with the driver's time travel. She believed that the correct time was 10:00 PM instead of 4:35 AM. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 4-26-07, at 4:35 AM. SAN ANTONIO PARKING GARAGE, 2420 San Antonio Burglary of Motor Vehicle (3 Counts) / Evading / Possession of a Controlled Substance: A non-UT subject was observed pulling on the door handles of several vehicles parked on the 4th level of the garage. As the officers arrived, the subject attempted to leave the area through the southeast stairwell after being told to stop. With cat-like reflexes, the officer began chasing the subject down the stairs and towards the Alpha Chi Omega sorority house. The subject was surprised to discover the main entrance to the sorority was locked, allowing the officer to take the subject into custody for Evading. During a search of the subject, the officer discovered a clear plastic baggie that contained one gram of crack cocaine. As the search continued, officers discovered that the subject was in possession of two cellular telephones, a Canon Powershot digital camera, XM radio receiver and a Ziploc bag containing a large amount of US coins. Additional officers began searching the 4th level of the parking garage and discovered a Buick with a broken window. As the search of the garage continued, the officers discovered two additional vehicles had been burglarized, a green Jeep and a black Chevy truck. The subject was taken into custody and transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 4-26-07, at 3:15 PM 300 BLOCK EAST 21st STREET Public Intoxication: A partially nude UT student was observed aggressively harassing other UT students as they passed by him. The partially clothed student matched the description of a broadcasted BOLO. The UT police officer stopped the subject and asked him for his last name. The student began screaming at the officer that he wanted to be shot with a taser. The student continued to scream that he wanted to go to jail. During the investigation, the officer learned that several UT students, including the subject's roommate, had attempted to prevent the subject from leaving his room since he was intoxicated and becoming combative, insulting, and cocky. As the investigation continued, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject's breath. The student admitted to having consumed beer, wine, and Jell-O shots. The officer complied with the subject's second request and took him into custody for Public Intoxication and transported him to Central Booking. Occurred on: 4-29-07, at 3:16 AM. Crime Prevention Tip: The life of the party? I don't think that this was the reason the other students were trying to keep him at the dorm party. Lamp shades are one aspect, handcuffs are another. 300 BLOCK MARTIN LUTHER KING BLVD Public Intoxication (2 Counts): Two non-UT subjects were observed attempting to navigate the straight contours of the sidewalk. Between each navigational beacon the officers observed that both subjects were dropping their clothes. The driver was taken into custody for Driving While License Invalid and transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 4-26-07, at 11:15 PM. 1900 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD Driving While Intoxicated: A blue Ford SUV was observed running through a stop sign and committing several additional traffic violations. During the traffic investigation, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the driver's breath. The driver stated that he had consumed a few beers during a basketball game, then went to a local 6th Street bar and had two more beers. As the investigation continued, the officer administered the Standardized Field Sobriety tests to the driver. The driver displayed enough clues that indicated that he was intoxicated.
