CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Thursday, 06-07-07 and Monday, 06-11-07. ALMETRIS DUREN HALL, 2624 Whitis Ave Suspicious Activity: A UT staff member detected a strong odor of burning marijuana from a fourth floor dormitory room. ALMETRIS DUREN HALL, 2624 Whitis Ave Theft: A MacBook G4 laptop computer was stolen from an unsecured third floor dormitory room. Loss value: $1,000.00. Occurred:6-08-07, at 10:30 PM and 6-09-07, at 1:15 AM. Crime Prevention Tip: An unsecured or unlocked door does not provide any security. Dormitories are only as secure as the residents allow them to be. Thieves are able to circumvent the card access doors by simply "tailgating" an authorized student into a restricted area. Once there, it is only a matter of time before that thief will find an unsecured and unoccupied dorm room. Take the time to lock your door and then double check to ensure that the door is secured. During the investigation, both subjects were issued written criminal trespass warnings and escorted from the area. Occurred on: 6-08-07, at 5:16 AM. FACILITIES COMPLEX, 1300 East Dean Keeton Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was discovered sleeping on the north side of the building. During the investigation, the subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning and escorted from the area. Occurred on: 6-08-07, at 5:12 AM. GOLDSMITH HALL, #5 West Mall Suspicious Person: As a UT student was exiting the building, an unknown subject forced her way past the student in order to gain entry into the building. During the investigation, the officers searched the building and were not able to locate the unknown subject. The unknown subject was described as: White female, shoulder length blonde hair, hair worn in dreadlocks. Was last seen wearing an orange shirt. Occurred on: 6-09-07, at 10:15 PM. GOLDSMITH HALL, #5 West Mall Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was observed attempting to set up a camp site on the northwest side of the building. During the investigation, the officer noted that the subject matched the description of a subject who had forced her way past a student in order to gain entry into the building. After being questioned, the subject admitted that she was the one that had forced her way into the building, but left. The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning and escorted from the area. Occurred on: 6-10-07, at 8:50 PM.
