CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Monday, 06-11-07 and Wednesday, 06-13-07. GRADUATE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS, 100 East 21st Street Terroristic Threat: A UT Staff member answered a telephone. The caller on the other end stated there was a bomb at University Teaching Center and it was scheduled to detonate. The proper measures were taken and the appropriate departments and agencies responded. UTC and PCL were evacuated and traffic was diverted from the area. The University Of Texas Police Department’s K-9 Units searched UTC, surrounding vehicles, and outlying structures. The building was declared clear and business resumed. The identity of the caller is unknown at this time. Charges still pending. Occurred on 06-11-07, at approximately 9:00 AM. KINSOLVING DINING HALL, 2605 Whitis Avenue Theft of Service and Assault: A non-UT subject walked out of the dining hall without paying for his meal. The subject was stopped and questioned by UT Staff. The subject didn’t have any money and stated he “should be owed” a free meal since he previously worked there. As the non-UT subject left the area, he lowered his shoulder and struck another UT Staff member on his shoulder. Charges still pending. Occurred on 06-12-07, at approximately 5:00 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 107 alarm calls, 1 suspicious person call, 1 suspicious mail/package call, 1 medical call, 2 collision reports, 3 informational reports, and 8 unsecured buildings between 06-11-07 and 06-13-07. UTPD generally schedules a Defensive Driving Class approximately once a month – based on need. The classes meet in the University Police Building, Room 1.318, located at 2201 Robert Dedman Dr (east of Memorial Stadium). The cost for the course is $25.00 (check or cash) payable on class date. If paying in cash, please bring the exact amount because change may not be available. You will also need to bring your driver's license.
