CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Tuesday, 06-19-07 and Monday, 6-25-07. BELMOUNT HALL, 2109 San Jacinto Blvd. Burglary of Building: A UT staff member discovered pry marks on a 7th floor office door and door frame. During the investigation, the UT staff member did not notice any property missing at the time of discovery. Loss value: $100.00. Discovered on: 6-20-07, at 9:00 AM. BRACKENRIDGE APARTMENTS, 3350 Lake Austin Blvd. Criminal Trespass Warning (6 Counts) / Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor (4 Counts): A UT student observed several subjects scaling a fence in order to gain access to Town Lake. During the investigation, the officers observed an open case of beer. As the investigation continued, the officers soon discovered that fours subjects were under the legal age of 21. All fours subjects were issued field release citations for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor. In addition to other law enforcement actions taken, all six subjects were issued written criminal trespass warnings and escorted from the area. Occurred on: 6-23-07, at 3:20 PM. ERNEST COCKRELL HALL, 301 East Dean Keeton Harassment: A UT student made several harassing telephones calls to another UT student. During the investigation, the victim requested that the suspect refrain from all future contact. Occurred between: 6-22-07 and 6-24-07. GREGORY GYM, 2101 Speedway Criminal Trespass Warning: A UT student was discovered inside a fence enclosure surrounding the outdoor pool. During the investigation, the student stated that he was going to work out inside the gym. The subject then changed his story and admitted that he had jumped the fence in order to swim. The student was issued a criminal trespass warning for the area as well as receiving a written referral to the Dean of Students' Office. Occurred on: 6-21-07, at 11:30 PM. REC SPORTS CENTER, 2001 San Jacinto Blvd. Theft: A black Specialized mountain bicycle was stolen from the bike racks located on the west side of the building after being secured with a self-locking cable lock. Loss value: $350.00. Occurred on: 6-21-07, between 5:30 PM and 7:00 PM. TRINITY PARKING GARAGE, 1815 Trinity Ave. Burglary of Motor Vehicle: The driver's side window of a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta was discovered broken. During the investigation, the officer determined an XM stereo receiver had been stolen. Loss value: $100.00. Occurred between: 6-24-07, at 8:45 PM and 6-25-07, at 12:05 AM. UA9 BUILDING, 2609 University Ave. Criminal Mischief: Twelve tires on five separate Golf Carts were discovered slashed. During the investigation, the officers also noted the canvas roofs of fours of the carts and one driver's seat that been also been cut. Loss value: Unknown at this time. Occurred between: 6-22-07, at 5:00 PM and 6-25-07, at 5:00 AM. 200 BLOCK WEST 6th STREET Failure to Identify / Assist Outside Agency: A non-UT subject was discovered sleeping on the plaza. During the investigation, the subject gave the officer a false date of birth. The officer soon learned that the subject had several outstanding outside agency arrest warrants. The subject was taken into custody for Failure to Identify as well as the outstanding warrants. The subject was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 6-20-07, at 2:40 AM. 1300 BLOCK EAST MARTIN LUTHER KING BLVD. Suspicious Person: A UT police officer observed a non-UT subject riding a bicycle and failing to stop at a red light. The officer recognized the subject as a known bicycle thief. The subject was stopped for the traffic violation. During investigation, the officer was unable to verify that the bicycle was stolen. The subject was released. Occurred on: 6-20-07, at 5:01 AM. Crime Prevention Tip: Bicycle thieves remind me of an avid fisherman, returning time and time again to their favorite fishing hole. The University of Texas and West Campus are two favorite spots for a bicycle thief to apply his trade. Take the time to register your bicycle with Parking and Transportation at www.utexas.edu/parking. 2000 BLOCK ROBERT DEDMAN DRIVE Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was observed stopping a pedestrian and asking for money. During the investigation, the subject informed the officer that he was lost and was trying to ask for directions. The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning and escorted from the area. Occurred on: 6-22-07, at 5:03 AM. 2100 GUADALUPE Public Intoxication: A UT student was observed slouched over a low retaining wall. A second UT student was helping to support the slouching student. During the investigation, the officers discovered that the slouching student was celebrating her 21st birthday at several downtown bars. As the investigation continued, the officers noted that the student could not maintain her balance. The subject was released to her sober friends. Occurred on: 6-24-07, at 4:32 AM. 2300 BLOCK WHITIS AVE. Criminal Trespass: UT police officers responded to the 2300 block of Whitis Ave on a report of an assault that had occurred along Guadalupe. During the investigation, the officers located two non-UT subjectsattempting to conceal themselves in the shadows. As the investigation continued, the officer soon learned that one of the subjects was in possession of a pair of bolt cutters and had been issued a prior criminal trespass warning after being arrested for theft. That subject was taken into custody for Criminal Trespass and transported to Central Booking. The second subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning and escorted from the area. Occurred on: 6-20-07, at 2:15 AM. 2500 BLOCK WICHITA AVE. Burglary of Motor Vehicle: The passenger window of a 1995 Ford was discovered broken out and two wallets were stolen from a tote bag that had been left in plain view. During the investigation, the officer discovered that both wallets contained several credit cards, gift cards and $55.00 in cash. Loss value: $155.00. Occurred on: 6-24-07, between 8:30 AM and 9:00 AM. 2600 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD. Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was discovered sleeping under the pedestrian foot bridge. During the investigation, the officers discovered that the subject was drinking an alcoholic beverage prior to falling asleep. The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning and escorted from the area. Occurred on: 6-24-07, at 5:49 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 154 alarm calls, 13 suspicious activity calls, 9 suspicious persons reports, 8 medical calls, and 35 unsecured buildings between 06-19-07 and 06-1-25-07.
