CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Monday, 07-02-07 and Monday, 07-09-07. REC SPORTS CENTER, 2001 San Jacinto Blvd. Theft: A UT student reported that both tires from his bicycle had been stolen. He had secured his bicycle to the bike racks located on the west side of the building. Upon his return, only his frame remained secured to the rack. Loss value: $50.00. Occurred on: 7-07-07, between 4:15 PM and 5:00 PM. 600 BLOCK WEST 6th STREET Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Marijuana: A disruptive non-UT subject was taken into custody. During a search of the subject, the officer discovered a pill bottle containing Naproxen tablets and a baggie containing marijuana. The subject was charged with Possession of a Control Substance / Possession of Marijuana and transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 7-08-07, at 2:15 AM. 1400 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD. Driving While Intoxicated: A white GMC truck was observed driving recklessly at a high rate of speed. The officer stopped the vehicle and detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the driver's breath. The non-UT driver stated that he had only consumed two beers the entire night. The officer administered the Standardized Field Sobriety tests to the driver. The driver displayed several clues that indicated that he was intoxicated. The driver was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated and was transported to Central Booking. During a search of the subject's vehicle, the officer located two open beer cans, along with an open bottle of rum and Mad Dog 20/20. Occurred on: 7-08-07, at 12:40 AM. 1800 BLOCK TRINITY Driving While Intoxicated / Possession of Marijuana: A Kia was observed almost striking a pedestrian. During the investigation, the officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the breaths of both the driver and passenger. The officers learned that the driver and passenger had gotten into an argument about who was "less drunk" and who should be driving home. The officer administered the Standardized Field Sobriety tests to the female driver. The driver displayed clues that indicated she was intoxicated. The driver was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated. The passenger was released at the scene after demonstrating that he was not a danger to himself or to others. During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered a baggie containing a green leafy substance that later tested positive for marijuana. The driver was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 7-07-07, at 2:25 AM. 2500 BLOCK GUADALUPE Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was observed staggering and stumbling into heavy traffic. During the investigation, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject's breath. The officer noted that the subject was confused as to where he lived and where he was at the time. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 7-05-07, at 2:45 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 229 alarm calls, 15 suspicious activity calls, 20 suspicious persons reports, 6 medical calls, and 33 unsecured buildings between 07-02-07 and 7-09-07.
