Crime Prevention Tip of the Day: Last week my partner and I attended the Texas Crime Prevention conference in Richardson TX. During one of the sessions this very topic was brought up. What was discussed was the availability of electronic recording devices today, and how predator can set up an unsuspecting victims inside libraries and other public venues. Because of the small size of these electronic devices, the size helps to conceal the crime. Being aware of your surroundings and taking precautions reduces your risk by eliminating some of these opportunities. Mark your calendars, because everyone is invited to the annual National Night Out. This year's event will be held on August 7th 2007 at Jasper Park and Gregory Aquatics Center. The fun will begin at 5:00 PM with activities, lots of food, music, and door prizes. For more information contact the University of Texas Crime Prevention Unit at 512-232-9634 or 512-232-9638. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 48 alarm calls, 11 suspicious activity calls, 9 suspicious persons reports, and 11 unsecured buildings between 07-25-07 and 7-27-07.
