CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Wednesday, 09-05-07 Thursday, 09-06-07. BELLMONT HALL, 2109 San Jacinto Blvd Criminal Mischief: A UT staff member discovered a 2’ X 2’ glass panel was broken. Loss value: $75.00. Discovered on: 9-01-07, reported on 9-05-07. BELLMONT HALL, 2109 San Jacinto Blvd Theft: A white golf cart with Lonestar Carts and Services logo was stolen from the east side of the building sometime during the 3rd quarter of the Texas / Arkansas State football game. The victim searched the surrounding area in an attempt to locate the golf cart. Loss value: $2,500.00. Occurred on: 9-01-07, between 8:30 PM and 9:00 PM. NURSING SCHOOL, 1710 Red River Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was discovered sleeping in a restricted area. During the investigation, the officer learned that the subject was not a current student or staff member. The subject stated, to the officer, that he was looking for a peaceful place to rest. The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning and was directed to a Motel 6. Occurred on: 9-05-07, at 7:56 AM. UNION BUILDING, #4 West Mall Theft: A UT student intentionally left three textbooks unsecured on top of a table, in order to reserve a spot. Upon the return of the student, he observed his textbooks were missing and an unknown subject was getting up from the table. The unknown subject became very nervous and immediately left the area. The unknown subject was described as: Black male, 25 years of age, 5’-9”, with short hair and a goatee. The unknown subject was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and carrying a black backpack. Loss value: $130.00. Occurred on: 9-05-07, at 11:16 AM. Crime Prevention Tip: In order to be a successful thief, you need opportunity, opportunity, and opportunity. In order to establish yourself as a potential victim, provide that opportunity for a thief. Police officers deserve an opportunity as well. We want the opportunity to recover your stolen property. So help us out. Engrave all of your property with your State issued driver’s license number on two surfaces that are plainly visable. 2100 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT police officer observed two UT students performing a voluntary bodily function within view of the public. During the investigation, the officer detected a moderate odor of alcohol on both students breath. As the investigation continued, the officer soon learned that both students were under the legal age of 21. Each student was issued a field release citation for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor and received a referral to the Dean of Student’s Office. Occurred on: 9-06-07, at 2:00 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 52 alarm calls, 2 suspicious activity calls, 3 suspicious persons reports, 2 medical emergency calls, 6 lighting reports, and 5 unsecured buildings between 9-05-07 and 9-06-07.
