CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Wednesday, 09-12-07 and Thursday, 09-13-07. * * * * ADMINISTRATIVE MESSAGE * * * * * The University of Texas Police Department is now accepting applications for the 3rd UT Citizen Police Academy. The academy will begin in October 2007. For more information please contact Capt. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Theft: A Swiss Gear backpack containing, a Texas Instruments TI-84 calculator, Chemistry textbook, and various personal items was stolen after being left unattended. Loss value: $265.00. Occurred between 9-12-07, at 10.00 and 9-13-07, at 12:01 AM. WAGGENER HALL, 2210 Speedway Theft: A Dell D820 laptop computer was stolen from an unsecured classroom after being left unattended. Loss value: $800.00. Occurred on: 9-11-07 between 8:25 PM and 9:50 PM. 600 BLOCK WEST 6th STREET Driving While Intoxicated: A UT police officer observed a black Ford Explorer traveling west dragging a traffic cone under its front bumper. During the traffic investigation, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the driver's breath and noted that the subject's eyes were watery and bloodshot. As the investigation continued, the non-UT driver handed the officer a Notice of Suspension Temporary Driving Permit. The officer administered the Standardized field Sobriety tests to the driver. The driver displayed several clues that indicated he was intoxicated. The driver was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 9-13-07, at 3:00 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 60 alarm calls, 4 suspicious activity calls, 3 suspicious persons reports, 2 medical emergency call, and 15 unsecured buildings between 9-12-07 and 9-13-07.
