CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Monday, 09-17-07 and Tuesday, 09-18-07. * * * * ADMINISTRATIVE MESSAGE * * * * * The University of Texas Police Department is now accepting applications for the 3rd UT Citizen Police Academy. The academy will begin in October 2007. For more information please contact Capt. ALMETRIS-DUREN HALL, 2624 Whitis Ave Theft: A UT student discovered that the front tire of his bicycle had been stolen after his bicycle had been secured to the bike racks located on the northeast portion of the building. Loss value: $70.00. Occurred between: 9-15-07 and 9-17-07. ALMETRIS-DUREN HALL, 2624 Whitis Ave Theft: A red and yellow Selle bicycle seat was reported stolen from a bicycle secured to the bike racks located on the northeast side of the building. Loss value: $35.00. Occurred between: 9-14-07, at 1:00 PM and 9-17-07, at 6:00 AM. Crime Prevention Tip: One of two things happened here, a thief took another bicycle where he needed a seat and a front tire. In which case one crime left three victims. Or a thief was gathering bicycle parts. The other day a known bicycle thief was stopped on a blue Roadmaster. This subject likes to work the northwest portion of campus. Attached to the Campus Watch is a BOLO on this subject. GEORGE I. SANCHEZ BUILDING, 1912 Speedway Disorderly Conduct-Fighting: Two non-UT subjects became involved in a fist fight after one non-UT student attempted to steal from the other. During the investigation, the officers learned that several witnesses saw the suspect throw the victim to the ground during the fight. The suspect was taken into custody for the Assault and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 9-18-07, at 12:27 AM. JESTER EAST DORMITORY, 203 East 21st Street Theft: A brown pleather loveseat couch was stolen from the south lobby area. Love value: $100.00. Occurred between: 9-14-07 and 9-17-07. STUDENT SERVICES BUILDING, 100 West Dean Keeton Theft: A silver iPod Nano was stolen from an unsecured 3rd floor break room after being left unattended. Loss value: $45.00. Occurred on: 9-17-07, 6:45 AM to 1:30 PM. TEXAS SWIM CENTER, 1900 Red River Suspicious Activity: A UT staff member discovered an unknown subject sleeping inside a bathroom stall located inside the women's locker room. The staff member described the unknown subject as having a high pitched voice. The subject was last seen wearing brown cowboy boots and western cut blue jeans. During the investigation, the officers searched the area with negative results. Occurred on: 9-17-07, at 6:30 AM. 200 BLOCK ROBERT DEDMAN DR. Leaving the Scene Collision: An unknown female, driving a gold colored vehicle, struck a legally parked and unattended vehicle. The unknown female got out of her vehicle and assessed the damage, then drove away. Loss value: Unknown at this time. Reported on: 9-17-07, at 9:57 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 45 alarm calls, 3 suspicious activity calls, 3 suspicious persons reports, 2 medical emergency call, 2 traffic collisions, and 3 unsecured buildings between 9-17-07 and 9-18-07.
