CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Wednesday 09-19-07 and Thursday, 09-20-07. * * * * ADMINISTRATIVE MESSAGE * * * * * The University of Texas Police Department is now accepting applications for the 3rd UT Citizen Police Academy. The academy will begin in October 2007. For more information please contact Capt. REGISTRATION DEADLINE is September 24, 2007 GREGORY GYM, 2101 Speedway Assault: A UT student reported being assaulted by an unknown subject after a closely contested basketball game. After the game, the victim was pushed, then hit in the face. The victim suffered a small laceration to the inside portion of his lip. The unknown suspect was described as: White male, 6'-0", medium build, with brown hair. The unknown subject was last seen wearing a sleeveless navy blue shirt and black shorts. Occurred on: 9-19-07, at 12:21 AM. PARKING LOT 115, 1600 Block East 20th Street Criminal Mischief: The driver's side window of a green Mitsubishi was discovered broken out. During the investigation, the officers were unable to determine if any property had been removed from the vehicle or make contact with the registered owner. Loss value: Unknown at this time. Discovered on: 9-19-07, at 2:25 PM. UNION BUILDING, #4 West Mall Disorderly Conduct - Offensive Gesture: A UT student observed a non-UT touching himself in an offensive manner. Occurred on: 9-19-07, at 8:10 AM. WALTER WEBB HALL, 2500 Guadalupe Graffiti: A 4' X 10' word written in black and white spray paint was discovered on the north exterior wall of the building. Loss value: $150.00. Discovered on: 9-19-07, at 11:25 AM. 100 BLOCK EAST MARTIN LUTHER KING BLVD Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol by a Minor: A black Chevy truck was observed running through a stop sign and continued traveling at a high rate of speed. During the traffic investigation, the officer discovered the driver was wearing a toga and had a moderate odor of alcohol on the his breath along with bloodshot eyes. The officer also noted that the driver was under the legal drinking age. As the investigation continued, the officer learned that the assigned designated driver. As the investigation continued, the officer administered the Standardized Field Sobriety tests to the driver. The driver did not display enough clues that indicated that he was intoxicated. The driver was issued a field release citation for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol by a Minor. Occurred on: 9-20-07, at 2:04 AM Crime Prevention Tip: This is a great idea, a designated drivers program to escort intoxicated individuals home. However, it is always a bad idea for the designated driver to be driving under the influence of alcohol as well. These types of actions defeats the concept of a program. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 80 alarm calls, 3 suspicious activity calls, 2 suspicious persons reports, and 5 unsecured buildings between 9-19-07 and 9-20-07.
