CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Thursday, 09-20-07 and Friday, 09-21-07. * * * * ADMINISTRATIVE MESSAGE * * * * * The University of Texas Police Department is now accepting applications for the 3rd UT Citizen Police Academy. The academy will begin in October 2007. For more information please contact Capt. REGISTRATION DEADLINE is September 24, 2007 BELMONT HALL, 2109 San Jacinto Blvd Theft: A black Apple iPod was stolen from an unsecured 6th floor office. Loss value: $325.00. Occurred between: 9-19-07, at 10:30 AM and 9-20-07, at 10:55 AM. BELMONT HALL, 2109 San Jacinto Blvd Theft: Two Auburn Swimming Championship rings were stolen from a secured 6th floor office. The rings had been placed inside a cardboard box. Loss value: $600.00. Occurred between: 8-27-07, and 9-05-07. JESTER EAST DORMITORY, 203 East 21st Street Theft: A Fuse BMX style bicycle was stolen from the bike racks located on the west side of the building after being secured with a chain. Loss value $250.00. Occurred between: 9-09-07, at 3:00 PM and 9-20-07, at 12:01 PM. PARKING LOT 116, 1600 East 20th Street Burglary of Motor: The driver's side window of a 2002 green Chevy truck was discovered broken. During the investigation, the officer was able to contact the owner and discovered that a silver Alpine CD/ stereo had been stolen from the vehicle. Loss value: $125.00. Occurred on: 9-21-07, between 1:28 AM and 2:01 AM. 300 BLOCK WEST DEAN KEETON Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject flagged down a UT police officer and told the officer that his fare was passed out. During the investigation, the officer was able to get the UT student to wake up. The student was unable to remember where he lived or where he was coming from. The student was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and became uncooperative to a point that he was physically restrained at Central Booking. Occurred on: 9-21-07, at 1:50 AM. 400 BLOCK EAST MARTIN LUTHER KING BLVD Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was discovered passed out near a busy street. During the investigation, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject's breath. The subject appeared to be confused. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 9-20-07, at 10:40 PM. 1900 BLOCK NORTH IH-35 Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was discovered stumbling as he attempted to walk along a busy roadway. Several vehicles had to swerve to avoid hitting the subject as he fell into the roadway. During the investigation, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject's breath. The subject informed the officer that he had drank only "two" beers the entire night. The subject's speech was slurred and his clothing was soiled from constant falling. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 9-21-07, at 3:26 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 41 alarm calls, 3 suspicious activity calls, 3 suspicious persons reports, and 8 unsecured buildings between 9-20-07 and 9-21-07.
