CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Wednesday, 10-10-07 and Thursday, 10-11-07. CENTENNIAL PARK, 1600 Red River Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of a Prohibited Weapon: A non-UT subject was discovered in an isolated area of the park. The officer observed the subject attempt to conceal an object under his ball cap. During the investigation, the officer recognized the object to be drug paraphernalia. As the investigation continued, the officer soon discovered a small rock of crack cocaine that had been concealed on the subject's person. As the officer continued to do his investigation, the officer discovered that the subject was also carrying a switchblade knife. The subject was taken into custody for Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 10-10-07, at 4:52 PM. SID RICHARDSON HALL UNIT 3, 2300 Red River Theft: A black Prada wallet, containing between $15.00 and $75.00 in cash, along with several credit cards, was stolen from an unsecured second floor office. Loss value: $315.00. Occurred on: 10-10-07, between 3:30 PM and 4:45 PM. Crime Prevention Tip: The Devil might be wearing Prada, but a thief is always looking for an opportunity. It takes just a few seconds to secure your office and your personal property. UNION BUILDING, #4 West Mall Assault / Family Violence: A UT student grabbed another UT student by the arm so that they could discuss a situation. After being grabbed, the first student was told not to do that again and to simply leave the second student alone. Again, the UT student grabbed the other student and attempted to pull them to the side. Occurred on: 10-10-07, at 1:00 PM. 2000 BLOCK UNIVERSITY AVE Suspicious Activity: A non-UT subject observed an unknown male looking into the first floor dormitory room. When the unknown male subject discovered that he was being watched, he left the area posthaste. The unknown subject was last seen running north towards the South Mall area. During the investigation, the officers searched the area with negative results. The unknown subject was described as: white male, wearing a white shirt and tan shorts. Occurred on: 10-11-07, at 2:40 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 13 alarm calls, 2 suspicious activity calls, 4 suspicious persons reports, and 4 unsecured buildings between 10-10-07 and 10-11-07.
