CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Tuesday, 11-13-07 and Wednesday, 11-14-07. * * * * ADMINISTRATIVE MESSAGE * * * * Today the University of Texas Police Department delivered two pizzas to the two staff members that helped our department apprehend a bicycle thief. That arrest led to the recovery of two stolen bicycles. Both staff members did a GREAT JOB. DUREN HALL, 2624 Whitis Ave Theft: A UT student reported the theft of a $40.00 gift card from a letter that had been sent to her. Loss value: $40.00. Occurred between: 11-05-07, at 12:01 AM and 11-08-07, at 11:30 AM. MUSIC RECITAL HALL, 2405 Trinity Theft: A brown Eastman violin along with a blue nylon case was stolen after the musical instrument was left unattended by the steps located on the south side of the building. Loss value: $400.00. Occurred on: 11-12-07, between 7:00 PM and 7:30 PM. 2000 BLOCK SPEEDWAY Theft / Assist Outside Agency: A UT staff member observed a non-UT carrying two bicycles near John Hargis Hall. During the investigation, the officers noted that one of the bicycles, a purple Magna, was registered to a current UT student. As the officers continued with their investigation, they learned that the non-UT subject had an outstanding outside agency warrant for a Parole violation. The subject was taken into custody for the warrant and was transported to Central Booking. The two bicycles were impounded and the owner of the registered Magna was contacted and additional charges for theft were filed. Value of recovered property: $150.00. Occurred on: 11-13-07, at 4:30 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 14 reported alarms, 3 suspicious activity calls, 2 suspicious persons reports, 1 medical emergency call, and 3 unsecured buildings between 11-13-07 and 11-14-07.
