CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Tuesday, 01-01-08 and Monday, 01-07-08. CENTENNIAL PARK, 1600 Red River Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was discovered setting up a campus site. During the investigation, the subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 01-02-08, at 3:45 PM. CENTENNIAL PARK, 1600 Red River Assist Outside Agency: A non-UT subject was discovered concealed inside a stand of bamboo plants. During the investigation, the officers learned that the subject was attempting to establish a campsite for the night. As the investigation continued, the officers soon learned that the subject had several outstanding outside agency arrest warrants issued for him. The subject was taken into custody and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 01-04-07, at 5:35 PM. COLORADO APARMENTS, 2501 Lake Austin Blvd Assault- Family Violence: A non-UT subject reported he had been assaulted by a UT student. During the investigation, the officers located the UT student and learned that she had returned home and discovered her husband viewing adult images. An argument ensued that escalated. As the investigation continued, the officers noted visible injuries on the non-UT subject's back. The student was taken into custody for Assault- Family Violence and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 01-01-08, at 2:58 AM. ERNEST COCKRELL HALL, 301 Dean Keeton Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was discovered inside a restricted second floor area. During the investigation, the subject stated that he knew that the area was closed and that he was not allowed to enter. The officer soon learned that the subject had received a prior written criminal trespass warning just a few days beforehand. The subject was taken into custody for Criminal Trespass and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 01-04-08, at 12:51 AM. JESTER EAST DORMITORY, 203 East 21st Street Criminal Mischief: A UT staff member discovered damage to a second floor dormitory door. During the investigation, the officer learned that another UT student had chased the second floor resident to his room after the resident shot the other UT student with an Airsoft pellet. Both students wanted to pay for the damages done. No charges were filed and both students were referred to the Dean of Students. Loss value: Unknown at this time. Occurred on: 01-03-07, at 11:21 AM. O'HENRY HALL, 601 Colorado Street Possession of a Controlled Substance / Assist Outside Agency: A non-UT subject was discovered attempting to conceal himself behind a tall bush. During the investigation, the officers soon discovered that the subject had been urinating in a public place. As the investigation continued, the officers learned that the subject had an outstanding outside agency warrant. During a search incidental to his arrest, the officers found a bottle containing several pills that were later identified as Hydrocodone. The subject was transported to Central Booking after being taken into custody. Occurred on: 01-07-08, at 2:20 AM. ROWING FACILITY, 300 Hearn Suspicious Activity: A UT staff member discovered three unknown subjects on the dock. All three subjects were acting rowdy and obnoxious towards the UT staff member and used inappropriate language. All three subjects left the area prior to the arrival of the UT police officers. Occurred on: 01-06-08 at 5:30 PM. UNION BUILDING, #4 West Mall Theft: A Dell laptop computer was stolen from a restricted second floor area after being left unattended. During the investigation, another staff member reported seeing an unknown subject inside the restricted area prior to the reported theft. The unknown subject was described as: White male, 5'-06" to 5'-09" in height, with dark hair. The subject was last seen wearing a yellow plaid jacket. Loss value: $1,000.00. Occurred on: 01-04-08, between 12:15 PM and 12:45 PM. W. C. HOGG BUILDING, #2 East Mall Found Property: An alert UT staff member discovered a Hewlett Packard printer next to a dumpster. The University of Texas Police Department is requesting all university departments to report any missing equipment. Please contact us at (512) 471-4441. WALTER WEBB HALL, 2500 Guadalupe Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was discovered sleeping on the east side of the building. During the investigation, the officers issued the subject a written Criminal Trespass Warning and escorted him from the area. Occurred on: 12-21-07, at 8:52 PM. 300 BLOCK WEST MARTIN LUTHER KING BLVD Driving While Intoxicated: A tan Chevy Tahoe was observed committing several traffic violations. During the traffic investigation, the officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the driver's breath. The driver needed to use his door and vehicle to maintain his balance as he got out of the Tahoe. The officers administered the Standardized Field Sobriety tests. The driver displayed several clues that indicated he was intoxicated. The driver was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 01-01-08, at 2:47 AM. 2100 BLOCK GUADALUPE Assist Outside Agency: A UT student /staff member and two non-UT subjects were discovered attempting to steal a potted plant from a local area business. All three subjects were detained and released to the Austin Police Department. Occurred on: 01-03-08, at 4:50 PM. 2200 BLOCK COMAL Assist Outside Agency: A UT police officer recovered a vehicle that had been reported stolen to the Austin Police Department. The recovered vehicle was impounded and released to the Austin Police Department. Occurred on: 01-03-08, at 10:43 PM. 2400 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD Driving While Intoxicated: A blue Hyundai was observed running through a stop sign and continuing through the intersection. During the traffic investigation, the officer detected a moderate odor of alcohol on the driver's breath. The UT student driver told the officer that she had not been drinking anything other than some orange juice with a little rum. As the investigation continued, the officer administered the Standardized Field Sobriety tests to the driver. The driver provided several clues that indicated she was intoxicated. The driver was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 01-06-08, at 1:37 AM. 2400 BLOCK UNIVERSITY AVE Criminal Mischief: A UT police officer discovered the driver's side mirror on his patrol vehicle was broken after being struck with an unknown object. Loss value: $100.00. Discovered on: 01-07-08, at 1:00 AM. Crime Prevention Tip of the Day: Welcome back everyone. During the next few days before the spring semester starts, take a few minutes and update your alarm authorization lists and after-hours authorization lists. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 39 alarm calls, 2 medical emergency call, one collision report, 4 suspicious activity calls, and 27 unsecured door reports between 01-01-08 and 01-07-08.
