CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Monday, 02-11-08 and Wednesday, 2-13-08. ALMETRIS DUREN HALL, 2624 Whitis Ave Harassment: A UT student reported receiving a large number of harassing, annoying, and embarrassing telephone calls from an unidentified subject. During the investigation, the officer learned that the calls had continued after the student told the caller to stop harassing her. Occurred between: 1-28-08, at 10:15 AM and 2-07-08, at 5:02 PM. CALHOUN HALL, #4 South Mall Burglary: A Dell laptop computer was reported stolen from a secured fifth floor office. During the investigation, the officer discovered that there had been an unidentified subject seen in the area of the men's restroom washing up. The unidentified subject was described as: white male, slight build, wearing a baseball cap and a polo shirt. Loss value: $1,000.00. Occurred between: 2-08-08 and 2-11-08. DOTY FINE ARTS BUILDING, 2301 Trinity Criminal Trespass Warning: A UT staff member observed a non-UT subject yelling at pedestrians as they would walk past him. The subject was last seen walking into the Fine Arts Building and entering the library. During the investigation, the officers were stopped by additional UT staff members requesting them to escort an unruly subject out of the building. As the investigation continued, the officers soon discovered located the subject involved in the disturbances. The officers learned that the subject was not a current UT staff member or student. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 2-11-08, at 3:40 PM. JESTER EAST DORMITORY, 203 East 21st Street Possession of Alcohol by a Minor (4 Counts): UT police officers responded to a 2nd floor dormitory room on a report of loud noise. During the investigation, the officers discovered four UT students in the room and several opened and unopened cans of beer. As the investigation continued, the officers soon discovered that all four UT students were under the legal age of 21 and were in possession of adult beverages. All four students were issued field release citations for Possession of Alcohol by a Minor. In addition to the law enforcement actions taken, all four students received referrals to the Dean of Students office. Occurred on: 2-12-08, at 1:31 AM. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Public Intoxication: UT police officers responded to a 7th floor dormitory room on a report of a belligerent and intoxicated student. During the investigation, the officers located a UT student that was standing inside a shower stall removing the aftermath of having an extreme physical reaction to the overconsumption of alcohol from his clothes. The officers were able to detect a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject from 12 feet away. The subject was incoherent and remained belligerent towards the officers. Austin EMS was requested to treat the subject at the scene for alcohol poisoning. The student was transported to a local area hospital for additional treatment. The student was given a referral to the Dean of Student's office. Occurred on: 2-12-08, at 12:39AM. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Public Intoxication: A UT student discovered a non-UT subject passed out inside a 2nd floor men's restroom. During the investigation, the officers observed that the subject was swaying back and forth as he attempted to exit the room. The officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject's breath. As the investigation continued, the officers noted that the subject was unsteady and had a hard time maintaining his balance. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 2-11-08, at 7:29 PM. ROBERT L. MOORE HALL, 2515 Speedway Theft: A Dell 20" flat panel monitor was stolen from an unsecured 13th floor office. Loss value: $300.00. Occurred between: 2-11-089, at 7:15 PM and 2-12-08, at 12:01 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 25 alarm calls, 6 suspicious activity calls, 5 suspicious person calls, 1 collision report, 6 medical emergencies, and 5 unsecured door reports between 02-11-08 and 02-13-08.
