CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Wednesday 02-20-08 and Thursday, 02-21-08. THOMPSON CONFERENCE CENTER, 2405 Robert Dedman Theft: A X700 LCD projector was reported stolen from and unsecured 1st floor classroom. Loss value: $2,500.00. Occurred between: 2-09-08 and 2-14-08. UNIVERSITY TEACHING CENTER, 105 West 21st Street Theft: A UT student reported that her Apple laptop computer was stolen after being left inside a second floor classroom. During the investigation, the officer learned that the student was studying with an unidentified student and after realizing that she had left her computer, discovered that both her computer and the other student were no longer in the classroom. Loss value: $1,000.00. Occurred on: 2-20-08, between 6:45 PM and 7:00 PM 100 BLOCK EAST 21st STREET Suspicious Person: A non-UT subject was observed looking at several bicycles that were secured to various bike racks located along 21st Street. During the investigation, the subject informed the officer that he graduated from UT and was interested in attending additional classes. The officer escorted the subject off campus. Occurred on: 2-20-08, at 1:09 AM. 2600 BLOCK SPEEDWAY Criminal Mischief: A UT student was observed attempting to remove a tire immobilizer from the left front tire of his vehicle. During the investigation, the officers confirmed that the device had been damaged. Charges are pending. Loss value: Unknown at this time. Occurred on: 2-19-08, at 5:55 PM. We are asking all students, staff members, and faculty to notify UTPD when you witness any suspicious person or suspicious activity in or around the campus area. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 15 alarm calls, 4 suspicious activity calls, 3 suspicious person calls, 2 medical emergencies, and 6 unsecured door reports between 02-20-08 and 02-21-08.
