Crime Prevention Tip of the Day: Spring Break is quickly approaching and there are planned activities that will stagger the average person. Most of the staggering will occur at the beach parties, concerts, and yes, more beach parties. In years past we have showcased how busy many of the law enforcement agencies will be during the next few weeks. Other agencies will eclipse the number of calls received by the police. Local Fire Departments and EMS services will be receiving a number of emergency calls for alcohol poisoning. Many of the reported student deaths during spring break have been attributed to alcohol and DWIs. Take a minute to recognize the signs of alcohol poisoning. Come back with a Spring Break story for your friends, not a confession for your parents. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 15 alarm calls, 1 medical emergency, and 4 unsecured door reports between 02-26-08 and 02-28-08. Contact UT Police at 471-4441 if you have any information regarding any of the above incidents or call 911 regarding suspicious persons, suspicious activities or crime. Your call may help solve or prevent a crime. Campus Watch comments should be directed to Officer Darrell Halstead at 512-232-9634 or Darrell.halstead@austin.utexas.edu .
