CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Tuesday, 04-29-08 and Wednesday, 04-30-08. DOTY FINE ARTS BUILDING, 2301 Trinity Criminal Trespass Warning: A UT staff member discovered a UT student inside the library after closing time. The student was asked to leave, but refused. During the investigation, the officer learned that the student had been "engrossed" and did not understand he was being told to leave. The officer issued the student a verbal Criminal Trespass Warning as well as a referral to the Dean of Students' office. Occurred on: 4-29-08, at 10:54 PM. MUSIC RECITAL HALL, 2405 Trinity Ave Suspicious Person: A UT staff member observed an unknown subject wandering through the building. The staff member questioned the subject; then, asked him to leave. The staff member saw the subject exit the building then re-enter through another set of doors. During the investigation, the officers searched the building, but were unable to locate the unknown subject. The subject was described as: White male, 5'-5", and was last seen wearing glasses, a cap, and brown pants. Occurred on: 4-29-08, at 11:05 AM. PICKLE RESEARCH CENTER, 10,000 Burnet Road Theft: Two Stihl weedeaters were reported stolen from an unsecured work trailer. Loss value: $75.00. Occurred on: 4-29-08, at 1:34 PM. TRINITY PARKING GARAGE, 1815 Trinity Ave Burglary of Motor Vehicle: The passenger side window of a black Ford Mustang was discovered shattered and glass was seen lying on the ground beside the vehicle. During the investigation, the officer contacted the registered owner and learned the following property had been stolen from the vehicle: Radar detector, Mustang cologne, cellular telephone charger, and an auxiliary cell phone cord. Loss value: $200.00. Occurred on: 4-29-08, between 4:50 PM and 10:27 PM. UNION BUILDING, #4 West Mall Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was seen by a UT staff member stopping students and asking them for money. The officers located the subject and were informed by the suspect that she only spoke Spanish. When the officers started their interview in Spanish, the subject then told the officers that she did not understand Spanish since she was from Romania. During the investigation, the officers issued the subject a written Criminal Trespass Warning and escorted her from the campus area. Occurred on: 4-29-08, at 5:10 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 16 alarm calls, 3 suspicious person reports, 2 suspicious activity reports, 1 collision report, and 5 unsecured door reports between 04-29-08 and 04-30-08.
