CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Wednesday, 04-30-08 and Thursday, 05-01-08. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Theft: A black backpack containing a white electronic remote and a lab manual was stolen from inside the dining room after being left unattended. Loss value: $48.00. Occurred between: 4-28-08, at 7:00 AM and 5-01-08, at 2:40 AM. MANOR PARKING GARAGE, 2017 Robert Dedman Dr. Criminal Mischief: A UT staff member discovered a long scratch along the entire length of his vehicle with an unknown tool. Est. damage: $850.00. Discovered on: 4-30-08, at 4:45 PM. SANCHEZ BUILDING, 1912 Speedway Theft: A Sony Vaio laptop computer was stolen from a 4th floor study area after it was left unattended for 3 minutes. During the investigation, the officers learned that there had been 4 other students in the area, but no one saw anything since they were studying for tests. Loss value: $1,000.00. Occurred on: 4-30-08, between 1:20 PM and 1:23 PM. SANCHEZ BUILDING, 1912 Speedway Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was discovered sleeping in a well established campsite on the west side of the building. During the investigation, the subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and removed his campsite to another location off campus. Occurred on: 4-30-08, at 3:31 PM. UNIVERSITY TEACHING CENTER, 105 West 21st Street Graffiti: Words written in blue paint were discovered inside a 4th floor men's restroom. Loss value: $25.00. Discovered on: 5-01-08, at 9:19 AM. UNKNOWN LOCATION Theft: A Dell laptop computer, charger, mouse and a computer bag were stolen after being left unattended on the back of the East Campus Shuttle bus. Loss value: $800.00. Occurred on: 4-29-08, at 4:00 PM. Crime Prevention Tip of the Day: 'Tis the season of finals. Many students are cramming the libraries to cram for tests, while other students are just now discovering the libraries for the first time. This time of the year there is a sharp increase in the number of reported thefts. Be very diligent when watching your property. Be careful who you ask to watch over your property if you need to step out or step away. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 16 alarm calls, 3 suspicious person reports, 2 suspicious activity reports, 1 collision report, and 15 unsecured door reports between 04-30-08 and 05-01-08.
