CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Friday, 05-02-08 and Monday, 05-05-08. ART BUILDING, 2301 Trinity Theft: Several UT students reported the theft of several art pieces from various locations within the building. During the investigation, the officers learned that an unidentified female had been asking if she could remove items from the dumpsters as well as the trashcans. The same unidentified subject was seen removing items from the building. The unknown subject is described as: White female, 20 years of age, 5'-05", frizzy brown hair, and was last seen wearing squire glasses. Loss value: Unknown at this time. Occurred on: 5-01-08, at 11:30 PM. JESTER EAST DORMITORY, 203 East 21st Street Suspicious Activity: The UT police received several telephone calls from UT students who saw a subject dressed in dark colored clothes, trench coat, black fedora, sunglasses and wearing a scarf as a mask walking towards Jester Dormitory. During the investigation, the responding officers located the suspicious subject and detained him. The subject was extremely surprised to see so many police officers, that he repeated the orders given to him by the police officers. When allowed to get up, the student informed the officers that he was going to play a prank on his girlfriend because he had to go shopping all day. Occurred on: 5-04-08, at 3:50 AM. PARKING LOT 115, 1600 East 20th Street Burglary of Motor Vehicle: The window of a red Ford F150 was discovered broken. The officer was unable to contact the owner and determine if any property was missing. Discovered on: 5-03-08, at 8:34 AM. PARKING LOT 115, 1600 East 20th Street Burglary of Motor Vehicle (Criminal Episode): A blue Chevy, brown Nissan, and a gold colored Chevy were discovered with broken out windows and the following property missing: stereos, car jacks, tool kits and a pair of jumper cables were taken from the vehicles. Loss value: unknown at this time. Discovered on: 5-03-08, at 5:13 AM. UNION BUILDING, #4 West Mall Theft: A grey and brown wallet containing, $40.00 in cash, various forms of identification, and a credit card was stolen from a second floor women's restroom after being left unattended for a short period of time. Loss value: $50.00. Occurred on:5-02-08, between 8:45 PM and 8:55 PM. 2000 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD Public Intoxication: A UT police officer heard a vehicle car alarm sounding. During the investigation, the officer located a subject sitting inside a vehicle. The driver stated the vehicle was his, but he could not get the amp to turn off. The officer noted that the student was attempting to use his dorm room key to turn the car on and the amp off. The officer noticed that the subject had a very strong odor of alcohol on his breath and his eyes were bloodshot. The officer had a hard time understanding the student's mush mouth dialect. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 5-03-08, at 4:29 AM. 2000 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD Burglary of Motor Vehicle: The right rear passenger window of an Acura was discovered broken and placed under the vehicle. During the investigation, the officer learned that the in-dash Jensen AM/FM/CD stereo had been removed along with an iPod Nano. The owner soon discovered a pair of Versace sunglasses and as well as a pair of diamond studded earrings were also stolen from the glove box. Loss value: 300.00. Occurred on:5-04-08, between 1:00 AM and 12:04 PM. 2300 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT student was discovered running in the middle of the roadway. When the subject slowed his running down, he would start staggering and begin fighting with the gravitational pulls of Earth. During the investigation, the officer asked for the subject's driver's license and received a gold credit card. After several attempts the student found his ID and gave it to the officer. The officer learned that the subject was under the legal age of 21 and had been consuming alcohol. The subject was issued a field release citation for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor. Occurred on: 5-04-08, at 2:30 AM. 2400 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD Driving While Intoxicated / Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Marijuana: A green Mazda truck was seen stopped in the middle of the intersection. During the traffic investigation, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the driver's breath. The driver admitted to having been drinking at a local downtown business. The officer administered the Standardized Field Sobriety tests to the non-UT driver. The driver displayed several clues that indicated he was intoxicated. The driver was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated. During a search of the subject, the officers soon discovered a small wooden box that contained a small amount of marijuana and a small pipe. The marijuana and pipe were confiscated. During an inventory of the subject's vehicle, the officers soon discovered a tablet of Hydrocodone. Additional charges for Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Marijuana were filed after the subject was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 5-04-08, at 3:10 AM. 2500 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD Graffiti: A UT student observed an unknown subject using a can of spray paint to write words onto a brick retaining wall. The suspect was described as: White male, with short blond hair. The subject was last seen wearing an orange colored T-shirt and blue jeans. Loss value: $100.00. Occurred on: 5-04-08, at 3:56 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 28 alarm calls, 3 suspicious person reports, 3 suspicious activity reports, and 7 unsecured door reports between 05-02-08 and 05-05-08.
