CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Tuesday, 05-06-08 and Wednesday, 05-07-08. MUSIC RECITAL HALL, 2405 Trinity Criminal Trespass Warning / Assist Outside Agency: An unknown UT staff member or UT student contacted UTPD to report a suspicious person that was seen inside a 4th floor restroom. During the investigation, the officers located the subject in the same area. As the investigation continued, the officers learned that the subject was not a student or staff member, and had not been invited to any event. The officers soon discovered that the subject had three outstanding outside agency arrest warrants. The subject was taken into custody and was transported to Central Booking. In addition to the law enforcement action that was taken, the subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning. Occurred on: 5-06-08, at 7:05 AM. Crime Prevention Tip: I am not sure who contacted the UT police about this subject, but that person did a great job. We never know what a subject's intentions are, but this subject now knows that there are students, staff and faculty that are watching PERRY CASTENEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Suspicious Person / Criminal Trespass Warning: A UT student, inside PCL, recognized a non-UT subject that had been taking pictures of her from underneath a table on 4-21-08. The student confronted the subject, which attracted the attention of several students and staff members. During the investigation, the subject refused to identify himself; because, he knew the law. When told that he would be arrested for failure to ID, he produced a valid Texas DL. The subject denied all allegations, but refused to allow the officers to look at the pictures on his camera phone. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and escorted from campus. The subject is described as: White male, 6'-0", 240 lbs, brown hair currently dyed blond and brown eyes. The subject carries a small backpack and rides to campus on a bicycle. Occurred on: 5-06-08, at 8:35 PM. Crime Prevention Tip: With the advancements in technology it is very easy to photograph an individual without their knowledge. Many of these types of predators count upon the fact that many of their victims are not aware of their surroundings. Take a few minutes and see who is sitting around you and observed their actions. You might be surprised as to what they are doing. When you do witness suspicious activity, notify the police. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 12 alarm calls, 4 suspicious person reports, 3 suspicious activity reports, and 3 unsecured door reports between 05-06-08 and 05-07-08.
