CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Wednesday, 05-07-08 and Thursday, 05-08-08. COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, 2110 Speedway Theft: A yellow Cannondale mountain bicycle was stolen from the handrail located on the north side of the building after being secured with a self-locking cable lock. Loss value: $500.00. Occurred on: 5-07-08, between 10:00 AM and 6:36 PM. PERRY CASTENEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Suspicious Activity: A UT staff member reported approximately 200 people were running around in their underwear. Upon the arrival of the police, the officers observed both men and women running around wearing only their underwear along with a large orange X painted on their bodies. The officers soon learned that the group was collecting clothing donations for local shelters. Donations appeared to be a little skimpy. Occurred on: 5-08-08, at 12:51 AM. SAN ANTONIO PARKING GARAGE, 2420 San Antonio Public Intoxication / Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was discovered passed out under the southeast staircase. The officer was able to get the subject out from under the stairs and soon discovered that the subject was extremely intoxicated and could not maintain his balance. As the investigation continued, the officer soon learned that the subject had received several prior written criminal trespass warnings. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication as well as Criminal Trespass and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 5-07-08, at 4:00 PM. 1900 BLOCK GUADALUPE Driving While Intoxicated: A burnt orange Pontiac Firebird was seen traveling well below the posted speed limit. After the police officer began following the vehicle, the officer noted that the Pontiac would speed up then slow down and continue to travel below the speed limit. During the traffic investigation, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the driver's breath and noted that the driver's eyes were bloodshot and watery. The non-UT driver admitted to the officer that he was coming from Pure, a local downtown bar and had consumed only one beer. The officer administered the Standardized Field Sobriety tests. The driver displayed several clues that indicated he was intoxicated. The driver was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 5-08-08, at 2:30 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 11 alarm calls, 2 suspicious person reports, 2 suspicious activity reports, and 5 unsecured door reports between 05-07-08 and 05-08-08.
