CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Friday, 05-23-08 and Tuesday, 05-27-08. ASHBEL SMITH GARAGE, 702 Colorado Public Intoxication: A UT staff member discovered a non-UT subject passed out on the lower levels of the parking garage. During the investigation, the officer was able to wake the subject up. The subject informed the officer that he had consumed a large amount of alcohol and had gotten lost. The officer noted that the subject could not maintain his balance or answer simple questions. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 5-25-08, at 12:05 AM. BELMONT HALL, 2109 San Jacinto Blvd Theft: A UT staff member observed two unknown subjects enter multiple times into the Longhorn Limited without making a purchase. The staff member stated that one of the subjects would ask the clerk when the store was closing for the day. After the subjects had left the store for the fifth time, the manager noticed 33 empty hangers on various racks thoughout the store. A quick inventory revealed several polo style shirts, jackets, warm-up jackets, and T-shirts had been stolen. The unknown subjects were described as: Hispanic female, 40-50 years of age, 5'-04", very thin build, black hair pulled back, with sunken eyes and prominent cheek bones. The subject was last seen wearing a light colored shirt and blue jeans. The second subject was described as: Hispanic male, 20-30 years of age, 5'-10", heavy set with an unshaven face. He was last seen wearing a red and white striped polo style shirt and black jeans. Loss value: $1,598.00. Occurred on: 5-26-08, between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM. CENTENNIAL PARK, 1600 Red River Possession of Marijuana: UT police officers discovered two UT students that were so engrossed in their activity that they did not see the officers approaching. The officers observed two small plastic baggies that contained a small amount of marijuana and several items used to make cigarettes. The officers confiscated the marijuana and paraphernalia and issued both subjects a court appearance citation for Possession of Marijuana. In addition to the law enforcement action taken, both students received referrals to the Dean of Students Office. Occurred on:: 5-36-08, at 7:09 PM. MCC, 2835 West Braker Lane Criminal Trespass Warning: A UT police officer discovered an occupied campsite on the west side of the MCC property. During the investigation, the officer noted that there were piles of trash as well as accommodations for several additional individuals. The officer learned there were two other individuals that lived on the site but who had left. The officer issued the subject a written Criminal Trespass Warning. Occurred on: 5-25-08, at 6:15 PM. ROBERT L. MOORE HALL, 2515 Speedway Theft: A silver "Pearl" flute and a black case were stolen after being left unattended on a bench located on the 4th floor. Loss value: $500.00. Occurred on: 5-24-08, at 5:00 PM. ROBERT A. WELCH, 105 West 24th Street Theft: A UT faculty member reported the theft of his passport from an unsecured desk that was located on the 4th floor. Loss value: $150.00. Occurred between: 5-16-08 and 5-22-08. WALTER WEBB HALL, 2500 Guadalupe Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was discovering sleeping on the east side of the building. During the investigation, the subject told the officers that he wanted to rest up before going out that night. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 5-25-08, at 9:34 PM. 200 BLOCK WEST 6th STREET Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was discovered passed out on the west side of the building. During the investigation, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject's breath. The officer was able to wake the subject and noted that the subject's speech was slurred. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 5-24-08, at 12:59 AM. 600 BLOCK COLORADO Assist Outside Agency / Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was discovered sleeping on the south side of UT systems complex. During the investigation, the officer soon learned that the subject had two outstanding outside agency arrest warrants. The subject was taken into custody and was transported to Central Booking. In addition to the law enforcement action taken, the subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning. Occurred on: 5-24-08, at 4:15 AM. 800 MARTIN LUTHER KING BLVD Driving While Intoxicated: A blue BMW was observed committing several traffic violations. During the traffic investigation, the officer detected a moderate odor of alcohol on the driver's breath. The officer noted that the driver's eyes were bloodshot and watery. The UT student driver informed the officer that she was heading home from a friend's apartment where she had consumed a few drinks. During the investigation, the officer administered the Standardized Field Sobriety tests. The driver displayed several clues that indicated she was intoxicated. The driver was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 5-24-08, at 2:46 AM. 2400 BLOCK ROBERT DEDMAN Possession of Marijuana / Possession of Alcohol by a Minor: A blue Honda was observed traveling at a high rate of speed and committing several additional traffic violations. During the traffic investigation, the officer noticed a plain pill bottle that contained a green leafy substance. The officer recognized the green leafy substance to be marijuana. As the investigation continued, the officers searched the vehicle and discovered a 750 ml bottle of tequila and several cans of Tilt malt liquor. The officer soon learned that the driver was under the legal age of 21. The officer then issued the non-UT subject court appearance citations for Possession of Marijuana / Possession of Alcohol by a Minor. Occurred on: 5-24-08, at 11:40 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 29 alarm calls, 1 lighting survey, 2 suspicious activity calls and 1 key assist report between 05-23-08 and 05-27-08.
