CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Monday, 06-23-08 and Tuesday, 06-24-08. CENTENNIAL PARK, 1600 Red River Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was observed yelling at passing female pedestrians. During the investigation, the officer learned that the subject was upset about his current living conditions. The officer issued the subject a written Criminal Trespass Warning and escorted him from the area. Prior to releasing the subject, he officer provided the subject with assistance information. Occurred on: 6-23-08, at 12:11 PM. COLORADO APARMENTS, 2501 Lake Austin Blvd Burglary of Motor Vehicle (2 Counts): A UT staff member discovered the passenger window of a red Mazda broken out. The staff member soon discovered the passenger window of a green Honda also broken out. As the investigation continued, the officer learned a Pioneer CD player had been stolen from the Mazda. The officer was unable to determine the brand of the missing stereo system from the Honda. Loss value: $150.00. Discovered on: 6-23-08, at 10:00 AM. GATEWAY APARTMENTS, 1600 West 6th Street Burglary of Motor Vehicle: The passenger window of a silver Honda was discovered broken out and the in-dash stereo system missing. Loss value: $50.00. Occurred between: 6-21-08 and 6-23-08. GREGORY GYM, 2101 Speedway Theft: A pair of blue jeans containing a wallet, California driver's license, several credit cards, and a social security card was stolen from an unsecured locker. Loss value: $20.00. Occurred on: 6-23-08, between 1:30 PM and 1:40 PM. KINSOLVING DORMITORY, 2605 Whitis Ave Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Possession of Marijuana / Tampering with Fire Protection Equipment: A UT staff member discovered the odor of burning marijuana coming from a second floor dormitory room. During the investigation, the officers discovered three UT students and a non-UT subject inside the room. The officers observed that the smoke detector inside the room had been disabled. As the investigation continued, the officers saw in plain view a ceramic pipe that contained burned marijuana residue, along with a small baggie containing a small amount of marijuana. All four subjects were issued field release citations for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The officer confiscated the marijuana. All three UT students were also referred to the Dean of Students' Office. Occurred on: 6-23-08, 9:10 PM. UNIVERSITY TEACHING CENTER, 105 West 21st Street Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was discovered inside a restricted area working on a laptop computer. During the investigation, the officer issued the subject a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 6-24-08, at 1:44 AM. 2400 BLOCK ROBERT DEDMAN Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was discovered passed out and unresponsive. After several attempts, the officer was able to get subject to wake up. The officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject's breath. The subject was unable to maintain his balance when he attempted to stand. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 6-23-08, at 4:38 PM. Crime Prevention Tip: Alcohol on a college campus has always been an issue and will continue to be an issue in the future. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 11 alarm calls, 3 unsecured door reports, 2 Suspicious Persons reports, and 1 medical emergency between 06-23-08 and 06-24-08.
