CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Monday, 06-30-08 and Tuesday, 07-01-08. CENTENNIAL PARK, 1600 Red River Graffiti: Several colors of aerosol paint were used to write words, letters and draw images on a retaining wall located on the west side of Waller Creek. Removal cost: $75.00. Discovered on 06/30/08 at 10:30 a.m. STUDENT SERVICES BUILDING, 100 West Dean Keeton Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject entered a 1st floor room that is reserved for UT faculty, staff and students. The subject removed a book from the room, stepped outside of the room and began to read the book. A staff member told the subject to return the book to the room. The subject began to cause a disturbance which led to the activation of several area panic alarms. The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning. Occurred on 06/30/08 at 1:38 p.m. 2300 Guadalupe Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was reported as staggering heavily as he walked. When stopped, the subject sat momentarily on a brick wall surrounding a flower bed before falling into the bed. The subject was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services needed to transport the subject to a local hospital for the treatment of alcohol poisoning. Occurred on 06/30/08 at 2:42 p.m. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 18 alarm calls, 5 unsecured door reports and 1 welfare concern reports between 06-30-08 and 07-01-08. UTPD generally schedules a Defensive Driving Class approximately once a month – based on need. The classes meet in the University Police Building, Room 1.318, located at 2201 Robert Dedman Dr (east of Memorial Stadium). The cost for the course is $25.00 (check or cash) payable on class date. If paying in cash, please bring the exact amount because change may not be available. You will also need to bring your driver's license. BCAL provides a central resource for UT faculty, students, and staff who may have concerns about the behavior or well-being of another member of the campus community. By calling BCAL at 512-232-5050, callers may talk with trained staff members who will assist the caller in exploring available options and strategies as well as referrals to appropriate campus support networks.
