CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Monday, 07-29-08 and Tuesday, 07-30-08. If you have any information pertaining to these incidents or any other criminal / suspicious activity, contact the UT Police Department at 512-471-4441. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Criminal Trespass: A UT student discovered a non-UT subject camping out on the 6th floor of the building and notified library staff. During the investigation, the officers located the subject. When the subject saw the officers approaching, the subject informed the officers that he was waiting for them to arrive. The officers soon discovered why: the subject had received three prior written criminal trespass warnings. The subject was taken into custody for Criminal Trespass and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 7-29-08, at 12:36 PM. SUTTON HALL, 210 West 21st Street Theft: A grey Patagonia bag containing a Dell PDA Palm Pilot was stolen from a secured second floor office. During the investigation, the officer soon learned a Canon 35mm camera, several camera lenses, a Nikon digital camera, and a Dewalt drill were also stolen from another secured second floor office. Loss value: $600.00. Occurred between: 7-28-08, at 7:30 PM and 7-29-08, at 3:30 PM. TRINITY PARKING GARAGE, 1815 Trinity Ave Burglary of Motor Vehicle / Criminal Mischief / Evading: A UT police officer discovered a non-UT subject attempting to gain entrance into a red Dodge truck that was parked on the 3rd level of the garage. When the suspect saw the officer, he took off running. According to several witnesses, the suspect used "cat-like reflexes" and jumped from the 2nd level to the ground level and continued running. With the speed of a gazelle, the officer gave chase and was able to take the suspect into custody. During the investigation, the officer soon learned that the suspect had burglarized a tan Kia and had removed an iPod mini. The suspect was charged with Burglary of Motor Vehicle / Criminal Mischief / Evading after being transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 7-29-08, at 9:30 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 18 alarm calls, 5 unsecured door reports, 3 suspicious person reports and 2 medical emergency calls between 07-29-08 and 07-30-08.
