CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Monday, 08-25-08 and Tuesday, 08-26-08. If you have any information pertaining to these incidents or any other criminal / suspicious activity, contact the UT Police Department at 512-471-4441. BRAZOS PARKING GARAGE, 200 East Martin Luther King Blvd Suspicious Activity: An unknown subject in a black Jeep began following three UT students from an off-campus location. The unknown subject followed the students into the parking garage. The students were able to evade the subject and notify the police. During the investigation, the officers searched the area and were not able to locate the subject. The unknown subject was described as: Black male, last seen wearing a grey shirt and a white ball cap. Occurred on: 8-25-08, at 9:20 PM. Crime Prevention Tip: What are the odds that this person needed to park in the same garage as the students? When confronted by this scenario, what is your game plan? To see if you are being followed a simple test is to make three right turns. If you are being followed, the person will still be behind you. This would now be a good time to contact the police. Go back to the last place where you felt safe and meet the police there. Think of the surprise when this unknown person is confronted by the officers as you arrive. 2100 BLOCK SPEEDWAY Assist Outside Agency / Possession of Marijuana: A UT police officer observed a white Honda traveling the wrong way on a posted one-way street. During the traffic investigation, the officer soon learned that the driver had two outstanding outside agency arrest warrants for other traffic violations. The UT student was taken into custody for the warrants. During a search incidental to the arrest, the officers discovered a small glass bottle that contained a green leafy substance that the officers recognized as marijuana. The subject was transported to Central Booking on the outstanding warrants and an additional charge of Possession of Marijuana was filed. Occurred on: 8-25-08, at 7:10 PM. 2400 BLOCK GUADALUPE Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was discovered passed out next to the sidewalk. During the investigation, the officers were able to awaken the subject. The officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject's breath. The officers noted that the subject's eyes were bloodshot and watery. As the investigation continued, the officers had a hard time understanding the subject's mush mouth dialect. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 8-26-08, at 2:01 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 18 alarm calls, 4 unsecured door reports, 2 suspicious person reports, 3 suspicious activity reports, and 3 public assists between 08-25-08 and 08-26-08.
