CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Wednesday, 08-27-08 and Thursday, 08-28-08. ANIMAL RESOURCE CENTER, 2701 Speedway Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was discovered sleeping on top of a table located on the east side of the building. During the investigation, the officer learned that the subject was just passing through the area. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 8-27-08, at 7:03 AM. DEVELOPMENT OFFICE, 2901 North IH-35 Graffiti: Words and slogans written in brown spray paint were discovered on a sign near the entrance. Loss value: $50.00. Discovered on: 8-28-08, at 12:19 AM. SIMKINS DORMITORY, 2501 San Jacinto Blvd Theft: A red Makei mountain bicycle was stolen from the bike racks located on the west side of the building after being secured with a self-locking cable lock. Loss value: $150.00. Occurred on: 8-27-08, between 9:30 AM and 11:30 AM. SUTTON HALL, 210 West 21st Street Theft: A green colored Bianchi road bicycle was stolen from the bike racks located on the west side of the building after being secured with a self-locking cable lock. Loss value: $500.00. Occurred on: 8-27-08, between 7:30 AM and 6:30 PM. Crime Prevention Tip of the Day: As you have seen this week, thefts are picking up. There are three things that a thief needs in order to apply his trade: desire, ability, and the opportunity. By working together we can reduce opportunities at UT. Lock doors, mark personal and departmental property. Report all suspicious activity or suspicious people. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 18 alarm calls, 8 unsecured door reports, 3 suspicious person reports, 2 suspicious activity reports, and 3 public assists between 08-27-08 and 08-28-08.
