HARRY RAMSON CENTER, 300 West 21st Street Public Intoxication: A UT staff member observed a student having an extreme physical reaction to the overconsumption of alcohol and notified the UT police department. The officers discovered a UT student stumbling and having a difficult time negotiating his navigational beacons. Crime Prevention Tip: Hum, The College Experience. I wonder, when this student was back at home, getting ready for college, did he expect that going to jail was part of his "College Experience"? Some students envision getting drunk and going to jail as a badge of honor. In some student circles it might be. For those that are curious here is what this student's "College Experience" will now entail: Waking up in jail, not realizing how he got there Posting bond to get out of jail and making a date with the judge Going on an aspirin run Getting to meet with the Dean of Students Going to a Drug and Alcohol Program on Saturday mornings Doing Community Service Going to Court and having his case heard by the Judge Paying court costs and his fine Having a criminal record All of this just to have the "College Experience." MEZES HALL, #5 South Mall Theft: A set of season football tickets were stolen from an unsecured backpack that was left unattended inside a 2nd floor computer lab. During the investigation, the officer learned that the tickets had been removed from a closed outer pocket when the former owner of the tickets went to the restroom. Loss value: $600.00. Occurred on: 8-28-08, between 11:00 AM and 11:05 AM. Crime Prevention Tip: Texas football tickets are a hot item as are these season tickets. It takes just a few seconds for a thief to commit a crime once he is presented an opportunity.
