Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between and Thursday, 10-09-08 and Friday, 10-10-08. Do to the recent APD cases involving UT students around the University of Texas, UTPD would like to remind all female faculty, staff and students about the FREE Women's Self Defense class that is currently being offered. RAD Program For Women, Now Available (Classes are FREE) Advanced RAD Classes Being Held for RAD Class Graduates The RAD program is a 16-hour course of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women that covers assault prevention and risk reduction while progressing on to basic hands-on defense training. http://www.utexas.edu/police/rad/ 100 BLOCK EAST 21st STREET Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was discovered sitting on the sidewalk, being supported in an up-right position by a trashcan. The officer noted that the subject's clothes were in disarray. As the officer approached the subject, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject's breath. During the investigation, the officer asked the subject if she had been drinking. The subject replied, "a lotta bit." When asked again, the subject replied, "a little." The officer learned that the subject was celebrating a friend's birthday and that they got into a fight and the "friend" drove back to Texas State University, leaving her celebratory friend in Austin. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 10-10-08, at 2:55 AM. PARKING LOT 80, 1900 Block Red River Burglary of Motor Vehicle: A UT police officer responded to a report of a vehicle with a broken window. During the investigation, the officer was able to contact registered owner and learned a GPS and AM/FM/CD stereo had been removed from the vehicle without the owner's permission. Loss value: $550.00. Occurred on: 10-09-08 between 5:30 PM and 8:30 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 24 alarm calls, 2 welfare concern reports, 2 suspicious activity reports, 1 public assist request, and 9 unsecured door reports between 10-09-09 and 10-10-08.
