Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Tuesday, 10/28/08 and Wednesday, 10/29/08. COLORADO BUILDING (PARKING GARAGE) , 702 Colorado Leaving the Scene Collision: A non-UT subject backed her 2000 VW 4-door into the rear bumper of a parked Chevrolet Blazer. A guard officer observed the collision and instructed the driver to remain on the scene until the owner of the parked car could be notified. The subject left the scene without leaving driver information. Repair cost: $100.00. Occurred on 10/28/2008 at 6:18 p.m. BEAUFORD H. JESTER ACADEMIC CENTER, 201 East 21st Street Theft: A draw string backpack containing a marker and a Texas Instruments calculator was stolen when the backpack was left under a table the Jester City Limits. Loss value: $100.00. Occurred on 10/28/08 between 10:45 p.m. and 10:50 p.m. BEAUFORD H. JESTER CENTER WEST, 201 East 21st Street Theft: A blue Cannondale Delta V 700 bicycle was stolen while it was “secured” with a cable lock to the bicycle racks located on the south side of the dormitory. Loss value: $500.00. Occurred between 10/26/08 at 3:00 a.m. and 10/28/08 at 12:26 p.m. PARKING LOT 39, 2300 Red River Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was reported as sitting in a parked vehicle taking pictures of the UT football practice where photography was prohibited. The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning. Occurred on 10/28/08 at 4:36 p.m. UNIVERSITY TEACHING CENTER, 105 West 21st Street Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was found sleeping on a couch in a 3rd floor hallway. The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning. Occurred on 10/29/08 at 4:35 a.m. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 19 alarm calls, 2 medical emergency reports, 1 unsecured door report, 1 found property report, 3 lost property reports, 2 collisions, 2 suspicious person reports and 2 public assist requests between 10/27/08 and 10/28/08. UTPD generally schedules a Defensive Driving Class approximately once a month – based on need. The classes meet in the University Police Building, Room 1.318, located at 2201 Robert Dedman Dr (east of Memorial Stadium). The cost for the course is $25.00 (check or cash) payable on class date. If paying in cash, please bring the exact amount because change may not be available. You will also need to bring your driver's license. BCAL provides a central resource for UT faculty, students, and staff who may have concerns about the behavior or well-being of another member of the campus community. By calling BCAL at 512-232-5050, callers may talk with trained staff members who will assist the caller in exploring available options and strategies as well as referrals to appropriate campus support networks.
