Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Friday, 11/14/08 and Monday, 11/17/08. CHEMICAL PETROLEUM ENGINEERING, 200 Block East Dean Keeton Theft: A blue GT mountain bicycle was stolen from the bike racks located on the south side of the building after being secured with a self-locking cable lock. Loss value: $200.00. Occurred on: 11-17-08, between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM. COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, 2110 Speedway Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject approached a UT staff member inside the lobby of CBA asking him for directions. During the investigation, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject's breath. The effects of the transporting elixir caused the subject a temporary memory loss. The officer was soon to discover that the subject did not know where he lived nor were he was. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 11-15-08, at 2:55 AM. ERNEST COCKRELL HALL, 301 East Dean Keeton Theft: A men's stainless steel Omega watch was stolen from a 9th floor office. The office was left unsecured while the former owner was visiting with another student down the hall. Loss value: $1,600.00. Occurred on: 11-17-08 between, 10:40 AM and 10:50 AM. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Criminal Trespass Warning: A UT police officer discovered a non-UT subject camping out inside a 2nd floor student lounge. During the investigation, the officer learned that the subject was not a current student, even though she claimed to be taking classes. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 11-18-08, at 3:44 AM. OHENRY HALL, 601 Colorado Failure to Identify: A non-UT was observed ascending a flight of stairs located on the south side of the building. The officer soon discovered a small stream cascading down the stairs as the subject was expunging the contents of his bladder. During the investigation, the subject informed the officer that he did not have any identification on him since it was Sunday. As the investigation continued, the officer learned that the subject had given him an incorrect name after the officer located the subject's wallet. The subject was taken into custody and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 11-17-08, ay 2:07 AM. 200 BLOCK EAST 21st STREET Assist Outside Agency: A UT police officer observed a vehicle commit several traffic violations. During the traffic investigation, the officer soon learned that the non-UT driver had an outstanding outside agency arrest warrant. The subject was taken into custody for the warrant and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 11-15-08, at 12:06 AM. 200 BLOCK WEST DEAN KEETON Possession of Alcohol by a Minor / Possession of Alcohol inside a Vehicle: A non-UT subject was discovered inside a vehicle that had been parked for over four hours. During the investigation, the officer observed an open can of beer inside the cup holder and discovered that the occupant was under the legal age of 21. The subject was issued a field release citation for Possession of Alcohol by a Minor. Since the subject was in control of the vehicle, the officer issued the subject an additional citation for Possession of Alcohol inside a Vehicle. Occurred on: 11-17-08, at 3:00 AM. 1900 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD Possession of Marijuana / Assist Outside Agency: A UT police officer observed a blue Honda commit several traffic violations. During the traffic investigation, the officer soon learned the non-UT driver had an outstanding outside agency arrest warrant. The non-UT driver was taken into custody once the arrest warrant was confirmed. While being taken into custody, the subject informed the officer that he was about to discovered a "stash" of marijuana inside his front pants pocket. The officer recovered a small amount of marijuana. The subject was transported to Central Booking with additional charges being filed. Occurred on: 11-16-08, at 12:09 AM. 2000 BLOCK SPEEDWAY Theft: A duffle bag containing, an Apple Macbook laptop top computer, Apple iPod, clothing, and a Jansport backpack were stolen after being left unattended next to a parked vehicle. Loss value: $292.00. Occurred on: 11-15-08, between 1:30 PM and 2:00 PM. 2100 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was observed staggering as he navigated in the straight contours of the sidewalk. Upon closer observation, the officer noted the subject was shoeless, and his large toe was bleeding. During the investigation, the subject informed the officer that he was attempting to find his way home in Pflugerville. The officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject's breath and noted that the subject's clothes were soiled. The officer took the subject into custody for Public Intoxication and transported him to Central Booking. Occurred on: 11-15-08, at 1:54 AM. 2500 BLOCK SPEEDWAY Theft: An orange Triax bicycle was stolen from the bike racks located on the east side of the NMS building after being secured with a U-shaped lock. Loss value: $40.00. Occurred on: 11-14-08, between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 62 alarm calls, 8 unsecured door reports, 6 medical emergency calls, 1 motor vehicle collision, and 7 suspicious activity report between 11/13/08 and 11/18/08.
