Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Monday, 12/01/08 and Tuesday, 12/02/08. CHEMICAL PETROLEUM ENGINEERING, 200 East Dean Keeton Theft: A Dell C630 laptop computer was stolen from a 3rd floor office. Loss value: $500.00. Occurred between 11/05/08 at 5:00 p.m. and 11/19/08 at 8:00 a.m. COLORADO APARTMENTS, 2501 Lake Austin Leaving the Scene Collision: An unidentified vehicle struck and knocked down a speed limit sign. The tire marks on the crushed sign provided evidence that the striking vehicle left the scene in a hurry. The driver of the striking vehicle left the scene without leaving any other driver or vehicle information. Repair cost: $50.00. Discovered on 12/02/08 at 2:07 a.m. KINSOLVING DORMITORY, 2605 Whitis Theft: A white Next Ascent bicycle was stolen while it was secured with a cable lock to a bicycle rack located on the west side of the dormitory. Loss value: $130.00. Occurred between 11/26/08 at 2:59 p.m. and 12/01/08 at 9:00 a.m. MEZES HALL, #5 South Mall Graffiti: A black marker was used to write illegible letters and slogans on the wall of elevator number 2. Removal cost: $40.00. Discovered on 12/02/08 at 2:01 a.m. MUSIC BUILDING & RECITAL HALL, 2406 Robert Dedman Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was found inside a 6th floor room reserved for faculty, staff and students. The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning. Occurred 12/01/08 1:29 p.m. MUSIC BUILDING & RECITAL HALL, 2406 Robert Dedman Theft: A blue Scattante R-560 bicycle was stolen while it was secured with a cable lock to a bicycle rack located on the west side of the building. Loss value: $999.00. Occurred on 12/01/08 between 9:45 a.m. and 3:37 p.m. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 28 alarm calls, 2 unsecured door reports, 1 lighting survey, 3 medical emergency assists, 1 public assist request and 2 suspicious activity report between 12/01/08 and 12/02/08. UTPD generally schedules a Defensive Driving Class approximately once a month – based on need. The classes meet in the University Police Building, Room 1.318, located at 2201 Robert Dedman Dr (east of Memorial Stadium). The cost for the course is $25.00 (check or cash) payable on class date. If paying in cash, please bring the exact amount because change may not be available. You will also need to bring your driver's license. BCAL provides a central resource for UT faculty, students, and staff who may have concerns about the behavior or well-being of another member of the campus community. By calling BCAL at 512-232-5050, callers may talk with trained staff members who will assist the caller in exploring available options and strategies as well as referrals to appropriate campus support networks.
