To help prevent your car from being broken into consider doing the following: - Never leave items inside the passenger compartment of your car. This includes, cell phones, CDs, MP3 players, GPS systems, cash; including change, backpacks, books, hand sanitizer, power cords, mail, trash…get the picture? Don't leave anything inside your car. - Use a beach towel to drape across your dashboard. This protects the dash form the sun, but also covers up the car's stereo system if you let the towel drape down off of the dash. - Make sure your windows are rolled up and your doors are locked. - Consider the installation of a car security system. This should include an audible alarm and an engine kill switch to prevent auto thefts. - Use a steering wheel lock. Such devices help prevent auto theft, but also send a good message to a thief that you care about your property and have taken steps to protect it.
