During the stop, the officer observed the student attempting to conceal two valid driver's licenses by sticking them between the driver's seat and console. Both licenses were current and valid but had not been issued to the student. The student was found to have consumed alcoholic beverages, but no to the point he was determined to be driving while intoxicated. Occurred on 01/29/09 at 1:59 a.m. Crime Prevention Tip: In Texas, if you are under 21 years of age and a police officer can detect any level of alcohol in your system when you are stopped for a traffic violation then you will be filed on for Driving Under the Influence. The level of detection could be something as simple as on odor of alcohol on your breath. You could still be filed on for Driving While Intoxicated and arrested, but if the officer believes you are not intoxicated to the point you are legally DWI, then you will receive a citation and an automatic 60 day suspension of your driver's license. Bottom line – Don't Drink and Drive; if you're under 21 then don't even drink a little and drive.
