Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Wednesday, 03/18/09 and Thursday, 03/19/09. BIOLOGICAL LABORATORIES, 205 West 24th Street Theft: A Dell Optiflex 755 computer was stolen from a desk located inside a 2nd floor classroom. Loss value: $800.00. Occurred between 03/12/09 and 03/18/09 at 12 noon. CENTRAL CHILLING STATION NO. 2, 2315 Speedway Criminal Mischief: An unknown object was used to break the left rear window out of a parked 2007 Toyota Tundra. There were no indications that any items were disturbed inside the vehicle. No items were stolen form the vehicle. Repair cost: $150.00. Occurred between 03/17/09 at 7:00 p.m. and 03/18/09 at 11:00 a.m. CLARK FIELD Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: Three UT students were reported as “smoking marijuana” on the stairs form Clark Field to Jester Circle Drive. The students were found to be in possession of a re-rolled cigar that contained a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana. Occurred on 03/19/09 at 6:23 a.m. CLAUDIA T. JOHNSON HALL, 210 West 6th Street Criminal Mischief: A traffic mirror located at the entrance to a sub-terrain parking garage was broken by an unknown subject. The mirror was in place to allow the drivers of vehicles exiting the garage to see on-coming traffic. Repair cost: $50.00. Occurred on 03/19/09 between 2:15 a.m. and 2:20 a.m. LITTLEFIELD FOUNTAIN, 200 West 21st Street Public Intoxication / Assist Outside Agency: A non-UT subject was found sleeping on a raised platform next to the fountain. The subject's bicycle was on the ground next to him. The subject stated, “I can't tell you what I had to drink, but I can tell you what I didn't have to drink; I didn't have less than a 6 pack.” The subject was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was a physical endangerment to himself. The subject was also found to have two outstanding outside agency arrest warrants for camping in a public place and fighting in a public place. Occurred on 03/19/09 at 2:59 a.m. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Theft: A ¾ carrot diamond ring was stolen after it was left in an unsecured 4th floor women's restroom. Loss value: $2,500.00. Occurred on 03/12/09 between 12:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. ROBERTS HALL DORMITORY, 303 East 21st Street Criminal Mischief / Consumption of Alcohol By a Minor: A UT student, who was under the age of 21, was reported as having broken out a window in a second floor door. The student was found to have also consumed alcoholic beverages. Repair cost: $35.00. Reported on 03/18/09 at 10:36 p.m. UNIVERSITY TEACHING CENTER, 105 West 21st Street Criminal Trespass Warning (2 counts): Two non-UT subjects were reported as sleeping on a couch. Both subjects were issued written criminal trespass warning citations. Occurred on 03/19/09 at 6:15 a.m. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 13 alarm calls, 4 unsecured door reports, 1 light survey, 2 public assist requests and 1 suspicious activity report between 03/18/09 and 03/19/09. UTPD generally schedules a Defensive Driving Class approximately once a month – based on need. The classes meet in the University Police Building, Room 1.318, located at 2201 Robert Dedman Dr (east of Memorial Stadium). The cost for the course is $25.00 (check or cash) payable on class date. If paying in cash, please bring the exact amount because change may not be available. You will also need to bring your driver's license. BCAL provides a central resource for UT faculty, students, and staff who may have concerns about the behavior or well-being of another member of the campus community.
